uaranteed Interview
Scheme

The Department is committed to the employment and career development of disabled people.
To demonstrate our commitment we use the Disability Symbol, which is awarded by the Employment Services. As a symbol user, we guarantee an interview to anyone with a disability whose application meets the minimum criteria for the post.
What do we mean by disability?

To be eligible for the guaranteed interview scheme you must have a disability or long term
health condition which puts you at a significant disadvantage in either obtaining or keeping jobs.
The disability could be physical, sensory or mental and must be expected to last for at least
twelve months.

would i be able to apply for this as i have ringing in my left ear.

Are you registered with your local authority as disabled under the DDA?
If not, then no.

if you meet the minimum requirement for the job then apply regardless of a disability.

looks like positive discrimination to me :/

How does ringing in the ears put you at a significant disadvantage in obtaining or keeping jobs?

They also have people working for them who are able persons, this is just to get the stats balance up a bit, probably to some government targets. Able people will be able to apply for jobs in that department, just not for that 1 vacancy.

I'm applying to the police in a few months, and am seriously considering telling them I'm gay because of the whole 'positive discrimination' thing. Its ridiculous tbh.
If you can take advantage of the system, go for it.

So you intend to lie in order to become a policeman?

Normally I'd be horrified, but the chances are you're just what they're looking for. Hows your shooting?

That's not a bad idea, when I apply for the police I'll do the same :)

Heyy, great shoes dude. *flaps arms*
