Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 (2023)

it's mostly the lame/weak humour that kills it for me - just didn't land apart from 2/3 times.

Totally agree it was this weird Reddit style passive-aggressive type of humour that fell flat on me.

There were times when it felt like they had turned GotG into a poor quality sketch show, and I was sitting there wondering when they were going to release the "proper" Vol.3.

That was hilarious - especially her calling him 'Quinn'.

I found it was fabulous. Some of the jokes didnt land but visually it was stunning and the two and half hours flew by. Was blubbing like a baby at the Rocket bits.

First hour, I think it was going good but then it went a bit downhill. High evolutionary looked pretty strong when he stopped warlock but then does nothing to quill when he sees him face to face. He could have squashed him like a bug. Then he turned out to be a mediocre guy, not very threatening, guess calibre for villains is low now.

The kraygar guy with the flying needle, his character looked dull and soulless. The dog yapping about being a bad dog, please stop already. Drax was kinda annoying as well as the manta lady. What was the point of having children there out of the blue?

Warlock could have gotten a better character build like when his mum was killed, he decided to join the guardians but they made him a premature bafoon. Could have been a lot better.

Watched this with the boy Monday evening, without over analysing we both thought it was really good. On reflection, there were some obvious inconsistencies in characters abilities between this and the last and even in this througout the film, but I didn't let that spoil my enjoyment, compared to other recent offerings in the same franchise this was way better.

Pretty much par for the course with Superhero movies.

Do bear in mind that in the last movie, Peter Quill was 50% celestial being, and had some of those powers until they killed his dad. You could argue Rocket might have upgraded Nebulas cybernetics as well and new Groot got different abilities as he got older.

I thought it was great, not quite as a good as Vol 1, but well above Vol 2 (which I thought was pretty meh).

Rocket's whole backstory was an emotional gut-punch for me (as I'm an animal-loving softy)
Agree on every point.

The animal cruelty side really got me but I love how they explored Rocket’s backstory.

I wish Marvel would stick to this mix of humour and seriousness. Thor could’ve been a great movie.
