Guess what's just flown over my head

Yeah, happened to be on a walk near one end of the derwent one time, about... 10 years ago. Heard em coming 5/10 mins before we saw em. Both the airworthy Lancasters, banked and turned for a return up the valley right overhead.

So... I'll see your 4 Merlins and raise you to 8 :D

been to a couple of the DUxford shows, the sound of prop warbirds is magical compared to the scream of jets. was lucky enough to see the 3 Lancs event, had two in the air while the 3rd was taxiiing, sound was sublime.

I dunno seeing the B2 back at Mildenhall in 97 is still the best thing I have ever seen. It would have been brand new then too.

I saw Vulcan just before it retired at an airshow in Cleethorpes and that was equally as cool.

Both have their place.

B2 is gorgeous and i saw the Vulcan on her retirement tour, but for me the sounds are the decider. the had the F22 at one show, was fun when it hit the gas and the engines set of car alarms in the carpark, but for me the noise of prop engines is something else.

Me the missus and her son went to Bowness on Windermere the other day and hired an electric boat , went out into the middle of the lake then got a nice fly over by a low flying Typhoon , then a few minutes later had another fly over

Not quite the howl of a Vulcan bomber but still an awesome powerful noise
As a kid I remember climbing up a mountain and one flew through the valley it was the same elevation I was I remember looking across and could see the pilot sitting in the cockpit with his mask on etc.

We used to go to Southend airshow as kids and I've seen so many "cool" aeroplanes..... Vulcan, the Lancaster spitfire hurricane, hovering harriers. I think an EE lightning, P38s.... F14s

They did it all back then it was like HSE didn't exist in the mid/late 80s.

Now 30 years later I'd definitely appreciate it even more lol
I remember the Eastbourne airshow and seeing a Spitfire circling around in the clear blue sky of a summer's day, much like today
