Guide to installing SSDs?

Dear All,

Could someone please list, in numbered order, the steps required to install a modern SSD? I'm due to receive a Samsung 250Gb 840 along with a Gigabyte Z77-D3H next week and would appreciate knowing ahead of time, what are the ideal steps - I'm sure this would also be useful to other folks, who haven't yet installed one of these devices.

I would update to latest motherboard BIOS,check in BIOS the SATA ports are set to ahci,they are usually set to ahci by default on gigabyte z77

Plug in just the ssd into the Intel sata3 ports which are usually white ones,disconnect any other hdd's then install windows,once done plug back in any other hdd's and set the ssd as first boot device in the BIOS

Then from within windows install the Intel rapid storage drivers from gigabytes website and that's it
