Guild Wars 2

I understand about the quick travel, but it was always good going round seeing others with the epic mounts and asking how they got hold of it. I am not saying that they SHOULD do it but what else would there be to collect. Other than armor PVE and PVP. There isnt even any need in normal mount. Am i making sense? I am struggling to get across what I mean lol :p

Sorry I am not clued up on everything fully just trying to grasp things.

Are you trying to say that you're worried there aren't many collectibles aside from armor sets? Pretty valid concern, I think there are minipets as well to collect which are supposedly much bigger than the GW1 pets.

I doubt flying mounts will ever be in because they haven't designed the game with them in mind, introducing them would probably need an overhaul of the gameworld. Obviously isn't impossible but I really doubt it.

IIRC the overworld zones have portals between them as well, not just to the cities. I think the fast travel system is supposed to obscure that though, since you wouldn't really need to travel between zones often if you can just fast travel to your location.

I think a mount would be a nice feature. I found in the beta despite having waypoints I still did a fair amount of walking. I've already been highlighting which skills give speed buffs just so I can get from A to Z quicker.

Yes that is correct, but I havent played GW1 and stopped following because its just taking too long to come out if I am always getting to read and not play it lol

I do see where you are coming from after going into the bit about instancing. I am sure I will like the game with or without mounts it was just a little thing I thought worth asking :)

Dyes for dying armour is also not always easily attainable from what I've seen, so it's not just about getting rare armour to look special but getting a rare coloured dye for it will also be something to try and collect.

Just like in GW 1 with Black and White Dyes being the rarest drops and so cost significantly more than the others.

I Hope Arena net make some really rare and desirable weapons/armour/minipets etc like they had in Guild Wars 1. Hoping for ultra rare weapon skins like Crystalline Swords or Felblades. For me this one of the things missing from SWTOR there was very little to spend credits on and nothing to drive the economy. In Guild Wars 1 the economy was and still is thriving with people making 1000s of Ectos just by playing the Market

Never saw a single Crystalline Sword drop in all my time of GW... other than the clone you get in pre-searing :p

Still got my fellblade, best looking sword in game.

Mounts would be good but not flying mounts, flying mounts wrecked wow from a pvp perspective and they are just bad! A load of cool ground mounts would be good though.

Ahhhem, they didn't, battlegrounds did! (At least on Ravencrest anyway)
World PVP was in huge decline way before flying mounts were ever in the game, that much seem to evade peoples memory en masse! :p

Although I can't be certain this was the case on every server but the forums at that time had a lot of posts pertaining to the fact there was no reason to pvp outside anymore compared to BGs.

Also, there's no pvp in the pve world, (GW2/ as it says on the tin) and they could simply disable flight in world pvp/arena/whatever. Not that I agree they should have flying mounts.

Its a bit of a shame about the instancing, one of the biggest criticisms of players of swtor was the lack of social due to instancing and it feeling like a rpg.

I guess most of the social will be done in the towns same as GW1 which i didnt mind at the time but I had hoped this would have a more worldwide 'general' chat. (maybe it does?)

Will have to wait and see on the instancing front, I remember a dev interview from a while back where the dev said the only thing instanced was dungeons, personal story and capitals. Which I'd be fine with as thats no different really to Daoc.

No I agree.

My perspective was that on my server you had "choke" points on maps where you could force people into world pvp, word got round and you, generally, got a real good battle kicking off.

Flying mounts rendered these last few chances at world pvp impossible! Point in fact being world pvp died then brought out sunwell where you couldn't fly and isle of hank was born :D my best times in TBc wow :D

Anyway on topic as you say no world pvp do pretty irrelevant! :)

Yeah, how anyone could pick at that is mad.

As for Capital cities, I can only assume it's better to seperate the resources of people idling/afking/crafting/etc from playing out in the world. It's not like people can "attack" capitals either so, I don't see a problem :)
