Guild Wars 2

Amazing, really enjoyed myself this evening - the WvW really bought back the feeling of playing DAoC back in the day.

yeah for me the WvW makes this game...it's a lot of fun.

normal pvp is same old, capture flags/buildings, defend/kill etc. I like that you get full gear and spells when you go into pvp.

Questing again is like any other mmo. Yes its all dynamic events but at the end of the day you still have to go kill xyz and collect abc. I guess it does make questing a little bit more exciting as you not sure what event is going to be next.

The combat is very good, the way your spell bar changes with different weapons is very good(not gone into water yet)

Can see me doing all the skill point challenges in PVE and exploring the world as it's really beautiful looking but Wvw will be my main draw.

Just need to get used to my new k90 keyboard had a habit of accidentally hitting the tilde key in combat and switching weapon sets.

Would anyone have any counter to "Ranged is king in mass pvp"? because for the most part and iirc in daoc rvr melee had a really tough time.

Fixed of course, by warriors using rifle/bow(?), thief using pistols, guardian using ? so that's a good thing, but from what I've seen it's generally a standoff between a no mans land, until of course one side overwhelms the other then it's "straggler killin' time" :P

Unavoidable no doubt, that's how lines of battle are formed and anyone stepping into no mans land usually gets picked off fast, but it's why I want to play an Elementalist, some of the stuff they can do others can't, pfwoah!

During my play time we were defending the main castle we would soften the attackers with ranged abilities from the battlements then jump down and mass rush them with melee, if you can CC then with stuns and roots the Greatsword's skills are amazing for closing the distance and knocking seven bells of hell out of the enemy especially if they are grouped together with it's wide damage arc.

I think this where the siege weapons come into play. If there is a stand-off at range - whack down a catty and send them flying :) There will always be the problem of zerging back and forth between keeps/objectives and things getting scratchy in no-mans land but I'm hopeful there will be the tools there to keep things moving.

Also, I wish people would stop mentioning DAoC :p I'm trying my best not to get my hopes up for WvW, but if this turns out to be anything like DAoC RvR, I'll be a very happy bunny.

Watching that video Beechgrove posted is getting me so excited for this game! The atmosphere and a lot of the areas look like they've been lifted straight from the first game then given a serious update. Really can't wait for the beta weekends to start now.

Fingers crossed. :) Hopefully there's no 55hp monks or trap Ranger solos though if they do make a re-appearance. I had both but it was no fun. I only ever got the FoW gloves because I just couldn't be bothered to farm them. :)

Anyone got any classes they're going to try out first yet? I'm probably going to go ranger, it was always my fave class in the first GWs, either MM or Bunnythumper! Hopefully it'll be as good in this. I'll inevitably try out everything though, especially if PvP lives up to expectations.
