Guild Wars 2

Well this isn't the first stress test, so no, I don't think it'll be coming out any time soon.

And yeah, bored of waiting a long time ago. Lost any enthusiasm for it about the time of the first beta. It would help if it ran smoothly.

I know its wishful thinking but if they're stress testing the servers, wouldn't this indicate that they're very close to releasing this game? I know that the rumoured release date is around thanks giving time(October). But I don't see the point in stress testing servers for a game that will come out in a few months, by which time there will be even more pre-orders and so more people ready to play by launch. I.e. a pointless test

Because of this, I'm wondering if we might see a release at the end of July? Again, wishful thinking and speculation, but I can dream dammit! :p

Drums up interest, gets more pre-orders. You're assuming that they won't increase the amount of hardware by the time the game is released, in truth stress testing allows them to ensure the hardware they have can cope with any increase in demand. Not sure of the details but I'd be very surprised if the servers weren't VMs, so hardware can easily be added/removed when required and they can easily add extra VMs into the mix.

Personally, I can see there being one more beta to add the last two races and get them running next month, then maybe a final stress test after that. Both of which probably running the game off the GPU instead of the CPU as it has been to get it running well for release. Then a final release. Plus, there was a statement by an official tied to Arenanet or NCSoft. I can't remember which. (I could dig out the links for confirmation) In his statement on the financial situation of the company it clearly stated the games release would be in Q3 of this year, which is July, August or September. So assuming one beta a month. Then can only have at absolute, 1, maybe 2 more beta's and maybe 2 more stress tests, as then the final version would have to go to the distributors for retail.

Also, this is relavant right now. It has been posted by ArenaNet online apparently, that this stress test will be a re-run of the Beta Weekend 2 finale event as it never really got started last time before the servers shut down. I'm guessing it will most likely take place in the same location as well.

I doubt we will eve see the Asura and Sylvari in beta, and personally I'd be glad if they didn't something to look forward to on release :)

If you want to look forward to them, they could always add them into beta and you just not play them. I want to try the races before the game goes live though or otherwise I could waste time on a race I don't like.

You have a lifetime to play this game, why worry about a few hours at the beginning of it?

cool just had my first taste of this game and i really like it so far.

dosent run very well on my 580 sli, nvidia defo need to sort a sli profile for it...

I like to hit the ground running when a game goes live, and use the beta experience to not only test the games performance on my machine and see how stable and 'complete' the game is but to also help make up my mind on what I will have the most fun with.

Stress test is laggy as something very laggy. Which I suppose is the point.

I didn't think I'd get much out of the experience and WvWvW was still a whitewash on Desolation so I think I'll wait for the next beta weekend.

All I discovered was the game seemed rather intolerant of the slight memory overclock I did on my AMD APU. Everything else seems to run fine, 'cept GW2. Once I went back to normal it ran correctly, with no hard crashing every few minutes.

Tried out the Guardian this time and LOVED it.....had lots of fun.

Also im getting a solid 60fps now maxxed out, so it seems the optimisations are working...at least for me!

The constant crashing i had during the last beta when i went into foggy/misty areas was non-existant this time. That was the first thing I checked, I ran to an area I consistantly had repeated screenfreezes/crashes before and it was as smooth as silk. Had the odd crash and disconnect but it was a stress test :) The game was hugely better than the second beta. I did get quite a lot of slowdown in the much larger battles compared to before. I'm going to upgrade my pc later in the year so it's more capable for more modern games.

Didn't try anything new as you don't really have much time to so i experimented a little with crafting and got my engineer to 15 and enjoyed the finale event. Although i think i'll play a different class at release. Shame on the world i was in, a few players kept using a method to stay uncorrupted that kept the bar from reaching 100% so we never saw what happened after that. There will probably be youtube videos appearing if anything does happen and people saw/frapsed it.
