Guild Wars 2

Well it took a few tries but I've managed to get it sorted. With any luck there wont be any more patching required before the final BWE.

My god that interview on Twitch. http://www.twitch.tv/guildwars2/b/324690176

Could they say Dynamic event system any more?

There is a massive flaw with the DES, what if the pendulum is stuck to the complete stage on all the events, you then have no content in the area.

And this happened to me recently.

They are trying to say there end game content is the content they already have. I'm sorry but once i've 100%'d all the zones, i'm not going to go back and repeat a DE. If there is no content at 80 to keep me playing, i'll just stop playing.

Same as GW1, grinding rare titles, rare gear, rare achievements and PvP will be the end game most likely, a lot of people seem to be expecting a raiding endgame, no idea why?

Because people don't want to grind for titles and achievements, useless vanity is useless. And because raids are fun?

It seems like the only real option for "end game" is PvP.

Im not sure I understand, what is the difference between grinding WoW raids and grinding their 5man hard mode raid equivalent dungeons?

I guess essentially nothing, but WoW raids had incentives because it provided you with better gear.

GW2's hard modes just provide you with aesthetic gear with next to no benefit.

While people will say "I don't raid for loot", there ultimately lying. You need a carrot on a stick to keep you repeating the content, otherwise it becomes boring and tiresome.

The incentives are better looking gear and a shiny title you can show to the world.

I raid for loot...

I don't know much about the dungeons except that all party members get a piece of loot at the last boss.

Once you have all the boss loot Is there still a chance of rare random drops and/or chests in the dungeon to keep people running the dungeons like in gw1?

It's fairly simple, this endgame worked for years in GW1 so they are going to use it in GW2, if you didn't like the prequel I sort of wonder why you are interested in the sequel?

If anyone wants a go at seeing what different emblem combinations look like, I found this nice link http://dragonwatch.net/fancyemblemexperiment/#0;0;0;0;0;0;0;0;0

It doesn't have some of the ingame features, such as displaying what the emblem would look like on a shield, or weapon or a banner, but it gives you the option of at least looking at all the icons, although the background are a bit hard to see and colour correctly with the deep red background (which isn't part of the actual emblem).

The carrot on the stick is vanity gear - that, apart from the enjoyment of overcoming challenging content, is the incentive of GW2's "end game" PvE. It's pretty much the same for PvP, in that you only unlock asthetic bonuses.

We can only really speculate about PvE endgame though. All we know is that there are 8 dungeons and 3 explorable paths in each acting as the hardmodes. Orr is also supposed to be a kind of endgame outdoor area iirc.

The endgame PvE in GW1 was pretty shallow IMO. As this is obviously a much more ambitious project - I don't think expecting a little more PvE endgame is unreasonable. Better loot isn't really happening though, the gear plateau is pretty fundamental in both games.

I'm honestly expecting PvE to be a bit of a mess for at least a little while after the game launches, especially with regards to balance.

I am surprised that they have not gone with any raids for end game, seems to be a bit short sighted, but then they can always add them I guess if what they have is not working.

Its hard to try compare any game to GW1 as it was never sold as a MMO, for my money for what GW1 was it was one of the best games of the decade!

WvW will also be a major part of this game, and I see a huge player base playing for almost entirely just that reason (well if it works :p)
But whatever GW2 is like on release besides a few the players will mostly be forgiving for a longish time, as the game is free, and they will get it working.

I'll be honest I was not 100% impressed when I played it in the few beta, think its 3 reasons for me, one is I guess in a tad old school and I like to see player progression b) the characters felt light to me, they seemed to lack substance.
3) I was not overly keen on the look of the game ( tho I think this is just because I was playing other MMO's at the time so its the new look thing).

Got a feeling this game is going to be reasonably polished on release, and one thing is for sure ArenaNet know how to make a F2P game work!
