Guild Wars 2

Rift wasnt laggy at launch. far from it. hardly any bugs or login issues.

There is a difference between a buggy launch and a laggy launch, RIFT was very polished in terms of bugs however it had large queues and when you did get in, it was laggy especially when the massive rifts appeared. It was the best launch I have seen but even it was still laggy.

I still remember the first world event in Rift...the lag, not being able to see people 2 feet infront of you..the resets...happy memories.

The amount of beta tests isn't really all that relevant to server stability. SWTOR had a few and the launch was a disaster.

Same for most WoW expansions, Diablo III (was in beta for ages), etc.

Possibly but when a game like rift can demonstrate a smooth launch then its possible gw2 can.

all these beta's have helped the games stability especially things like login issues which was severe in the first beta that looks to be ironed out.

THis beta is basically open to anyone and will provide a good base for how stressful there servers will be at launch.

have faith

i did not experience any lag. i have however experience more lag on gw2 WvWvW.

I didn't play Rift at launch, but I know some people who did (as well as those posting in this thread), and they said it was a bit of a laggy mess.

GW2 is possibly going to be even more popular than everything before it, so the demand could be enormous. It's entirely possible there will be serious issues tonight, and at launch.

That isn't to say there definitely will be, they might have some seriously good servers, but we'll see.

I was on one of the most populated servers and i got abit of slow down at times when there was a massive zerg but it wasnt that bad for me, it was playable for me, unlike swtor, which was unplaybale, and Aion aswell, tottally unplayable.

I dont remember there being that many people in one spot in rift, maybe when there was a world invasion or whatever it was called, but still nothing of the scale of WvW.

I found Aion to be fairly playable, the only problem I had with Aion was not enough quest items for the amount of people in the area. Rift was alright, however it got very laggy near one of the first quest hubs in the Guardian area with all the people and the massive rift that spawned.

Hopefully the lag isn't too bad, atleast with GW2 there will be no waiting in queues as the massive queues in SWTOR really put me off the game.

im new to guild wars and mmos but looking forward to this, what char would be good for a noob player with good ranger attacks? maybe ranged and meele?

cheers.

Warriors can equip near enough any melee weapon and gun/rifles for ranged, plus they're heavy armoured so won't be as squishy as other professions.

I'd say they were the ideal newbie class, no offense to anyone rolling warrior. :D

Really looking forward to the beta gw was one of my fave games ever. I have been trying to stay away from the hype as much as possible so i don't actually know much about the game.

Not sure what class to go with a toss up between necro and messmer i think. But also might go with warrior the class i started with in the first gw.

I found the ranger to be a pretty easy class to get into for ranged, a warrior is pretty easy too, but most classes are easy to get into but there is a lot of depth to them too, which is cool :)

This ^ pretty much, they also have the joint highest innate health pool.

They have a lot of versatility, but not a whole lot going on at once.
