Guild Wars 2

For example my girlfriend doesn't know her specs off hand and tells me 'look at how well this game I just got runs' I look over at the stuttering mess of the fps cap of somewhere between 28-32fps shuddering around on the screen. But I guess I've just got decent eyes.

That or you have different ideas of what 'well' means. :P

I have a i7 with a gtx 570 and this game ran extremely smoothly for me, I looked at a vid I made and even there it looked smooth.

I think its an nvidia thing, most complaints are from nvidia users, ati seems to be fine. Also MMO's are notoriously cpu limited so gpu has little impact over all.

Nah, my AMD/ATI system runs the game shockingly poorly, it's improved every weekend so far so I have hope but it's still way off the mark.

Game was flawless for me, 30-40 fps while streaming at 1080p, on an i7 ivy with 6950 modded to 6970.

Some obviously demand 60+ fps which is just unrealistic with current hardware if you plan on playing at 1080p or higher, unless you reduce cpu intensive things like shadows.

Sounds like I'll need to join the 5Ghz club for 120 fps. :(

Doubt 5Ghz will be enough im at 4.6Ghz and get 30-40FPS, but its a steady frame rate, doesn't dip below 30 even during intense action.

Yes I can tell the difference between 30 and 60 fps but having <60 fps doesn't detract from an otherwise excellent game.

Don't forget Beta is Beta, and while BWE 3 was pretty good with performance compared to the later, the game still wasn't fully optimized. I am sure there will be more optimization to come. Arenanet want this game to be playable on wide number of specs.

This, BWE3 was a huge step in in performance from the previous BW, and I think we will see another step up on release.

I also think some of the issue people are having are maybe driver/pc build specific because a for quite a few of us on here and I would guess the vast majority the game ran smoothly, had it not we would have seen a much much bigger outcry across other sites, and while there are threads out there, its not that many.

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you didn't mean the post sound as crazy and touchy as it does :p

I'm really, really picky with how my games run and if it was a "stuttering mess" I'd be upgrading ASAP. The game runs well on average rigs, it's well optimised.

I remember saying that for SWTOR. Don't believe that for 1 second, sorry.

Come on, so far compared to SWTOR beta's the performance increase progress in GW2 is miles better! From BWE2 to BWE3 there was a huge difference, there's got to be more to come.

Yeah i agree, but from build to build with SWTOR there performance increased and then the last day of beta the client was exactly the same as on release and it performed poorly. ;)

Not trying to be an ass or anything, just saying from experience i'm extremely dubious about "its only beta and can only get better".

From my previous MMO beta experiences, I would say that TOR was an exception. It was the only case where beta = live release. It was not managed/coded the best way.

GW2 BW2 & 3 was much better than TOR's live release.

It's very true that it got better, then once it was released it was at its worst again. I blame EA for rushing the game out when it obviously wasn't ready to be released and Bioware for that though.

Arena Net albeit a much smaller company don't normally do things half arsed, GW1 might not have be viewed in high regards to some people but it was a very very good game. It was created by a team of 3 to 5 people and to be honest i enjoyed it so much more than SWTOR.

I remember BWE1 it a couple of months back and the performance was so bad, BWE2 it was very good and BWE3 was almost flawless for me. I don't think they want to bring the game out as SWTOR did as look where it is now.

Lets put a little wager for fun.

I'm going to be rolling on the Desolation server and i'll bet you 1g each that the BWE 3 client will be the same performance as the release client. If its better performing i'll give you each 1g.

Thats if we are on the Desolation server together. We'll judge the performance by public opinion, mainly from this thread and reddit? We'll leave personal opinion out of it as to not skew the results.

Just for fun! :D
