Guild Wars 2

Howdy all,

I've been ridiculously busy over the last few months with work so I've missed the build up / beta weekends.

Starting to try and digest some information now and would appreciate any links to some good websites / RSS feeds just to try and bring me up to speed with the game prior to release.

Thanks in advance all.

Some helpful videos for you! :)

Guild Wars 2: Warriors, Dodge, and You

Just watching the latest video from the CynicalBrit channel. Yes he's a bit marmite but he raises a few good points, one of which was how he often found himself wandering off exploring.

I hope this is a recurring theme. Playing the original back with the first OcUK guilds, my best memories were those where we went exploring. I still remember the first time we went trekking across the Southern Shiverpeaks, no quest, no mission, let's just see what's out there. There are some beautiful vistas in that part of the world that would completely pass you by as there's no reason to go out there. Hope there's some of that in GW2!

@gamertoons Stress Tests are only available for pre-purchasers. BWE3 promo codes were good ONLY for BWE3--NOT for Stress Tests. ^RB

I have pre-ordered it rather than pre-purchasing it so won't be able to take part in the stress test.

if he wasnt such an ******* and bully he would have a lot more fans that actually like him (apart from the youtube kiddies)

anyhow its all well and good about the exploring bit, but no ones gonna be exploring if you get one shotted by some OP enemy out of nowhere.

and on that note since the beta a while back (didnt play the last one) did they adjust the difficulty? or does the game still play like you need a ****ing army behind you to kill a worm?

There is a new website to list guilds and form alliance, look for members etc, also shows which are the unofficial UK servers. Looks a pretty decent setup IMO, loads of guilds on there already.

Welcome to GW2Guilds.org!

The Purpose of this Site
With the release of Guild Wars 2 closing fast, guilds are now in the position of having to pick a server for release. This site is intended to provide a central database of guilds along with important information such as the server they are rolling on, their approximate member count, and their gameplay focus.

Currently you can browse guilds, browse servers, and submit guilds to the database (requires registration, and all guilds will be checked and approved by a moderator).

Features on the way:

■Alliances
■The ability to filter by a wider range of fields such as language
■Communities
■Minimum age requirement

Exploration adds massively to the experience. I suppose it depends what type of player you are but I know I want a world rather than wow teleport to instance and ignore the world game. Finding the vistas and puzzles was a great addition.

Also too difficult? Not wanting to go back to WoW but of you try and play like wow ie. stand still and spam them to death then you will fail. You have to dodge and move then it's no bother taking on one or multiple enemies but it requires brains and effort. I remember fighting 4 trolls in bwe3 at once it was really difficult but with dodging, cc and healing at the right time I managed it. Great fight and that's much better than mashing your head off the keyboard for a boring 1-cap grind.

Cant bring myself to pre-order...

£35-£45 for an empty box with a code inside- meaning i will have to download "X" GB of game files.

£50 ordering from the guild wars 2 website, technically obtaining nothing, and having to download "X" GB of game files \:

Disc sure woud be handy.

Yesterday was good, streamed Guild Wars all day had one guy donate a load of mini pets and platinum to me which was nice. Still on the look out for more mini's though need another 25.

Anyone selling or know of anyone selling, I'd pay them well :)

I'm the same, can't justify £50 for a digital edition game. Even £35 feels too much...

It's a shame GMG pulled the £25 deal early, I would have snapped it up at that price. Guess I'll wait for anther deal or for it to drop in price at the local supermarket
