Guild Wars 2

It's posted like 10 posts up, need to check a little more! ;)

12AM-4AM.

It's not aimed for us, it's more towards the Americans/Australians.

Sorry I am at work so can only skim through the posts ha-ha thats great It suites me a lot better because I game late at night =p

Might get a couple of drinks in aswell while I am at it

had my first play ever last night! i liked what i saw, it will take getti g used to be it seemed pretty cool! very hard to tell how long/big the game will be but i assume it will keep us busy for ages :)

the graphics reminded me of rift to start with but the art style on this is much better imo! seemed to run fine with crossfire 6950's didnt turn one off to compare though!

now want to try other classes lol long wait hope they do another evening test before then!

quick question, do all the characters start in the same place and go from there or does each race have different starting areas?

Complete noob question, I have bought the pre purchase off their official website, does that mean I would have access to the test at midnight tonight?

Already got the client downloaded and installed so is it just a case of trying to log in?

Cheers

One tonight but it is late night to very early morning.

All races have their own starting areas.

Yup if you've bought it from the site and registered the key your good to go.

Each race starts in their own area, all races then converge in the same place around level 30.

I've played the beta since the very start and can get level 30 within 3 days fairly easily (playing 6+ hours a day). As the leveling pace flattens out around level 30 I would expect it take upwards of 10 days or 60 hours to get level 80.

Thats assuming you know where to go and what to do. I'm sure there will be people hitting level 80 within 5 days or a week though.

I dont see why people dont take their time and enjoy the content that is offered to them. I am not that bothered to be behind others like but to an extent people are to serious about getting there first

I was under the impression it leveled out at 20, that from 20 it takes the same time to get to 21 as it would take from 79 to 80. (see required XP for time)

post here on it http://www.arena.net/blog/progression-and-leveling-in-guild-wars-2

Pretty sure the required xp still increases each level up to 30. Will double check tonight. Either way 30+ didn't feel any slower than previous levels, but 29-30 felt slower than 28-29.

That could just be a pacing issue though in game. Looking at the chart though which I know isn't an accurate depiction of what it's like in game, the curve doesn't flatten out till the last 3rd which would be around level 55, and we all know that isn't the case :-)

I don't think it'll do 7million in a year but I think a solid 3 million is reasonable to expect. Maybe 7 million in the first 3 years for a game like this. I think it'll grow faster than any other mmo ever has in numbers though.

Yeah you could very well be right was just something I saw. Whatever it is it's still short compared to the other mmo levelling curve.

It's the way MMO's are going, i think it should take a bit longer to level to 80 personally.

If you look at SWTOR that was really quick aswell, most MMO's are going the quick leveling to max level tactic but in a game like this it might be better giving leveling a slower process.

I guess that would cause problems, but leveling to 80 to quickly and being different in ways to other MMO's could go against it.

Getting max level in MMOs these days is really really easy.

I remember playing Anarchy Online and for a long time coming across max level players was a RARITY! It was also something to behold because the investment to get there was massive. It was also an MMO in which you could twink high level items onto low level players. I have spent 10s and 10s of hours twinking a char with calculators, spreadsheets and item databases to equip ONE single item. The feeling once you manage it though is utterly immense.

MMOs have certainly lost that wonder aspect when looking towards the max level and high end gear. It's all far too accessible for my liking now - Sure being more difficult restricted casual players from getting it (Easily anyway) but it also made it an achievement when you finally managed it.

It's inevitable though, appeal to a bigger market, make more money.

I remember taking 3 days solid just to get level 49-50 in DAoC!

Those were the days indeed, but as levels don't really mean much in GW2 at all, you can still experience the content properly, all that is going to happen is a select few will rush to 80, only to then go back over the content they missed in a down leveled state.

Took me 3 days during the last BWE to get level 31, get 100% completion in all the sylvari zones on the way and level weapon smithing to 150+, not forgetting the occasional WvW and sPVP as well.

Who knows maybe after seeing every WoW clone tank, bar Rift, we'll get a swing around to the older UO/EQ model where the journey is just as important as the destination with the next batch of MMO's (after TES Online though).

Surely it's no co-incidence that the more accessable WoW has become the more subs they are losing?

I have played about 10 different MMO's and i have never managed to get to max level on any of them:p The best i have done was get to level 40 on WOW but then i lost interest.
I should love mmos as i love rpg games which mmos are pretty much but with loads of people playing around you.
But gw2 should be different this time as its really encourging on teamwork, it pretty much forces you into automatically when you start doing dyanmic events etc. Im also in a very active social guild (immortals:D) and my brother is playing.
I really believe i will see end game content and get to max level in this mmo.
