Guild Wars 2

Diablo 3 had a midnight launch with Tesco.

I'm just going to buy it online now anyway.

the 24/7 tesco stores ?

I guess they will sell gw2 aswell if they do pc games.

i thought you meant shops specificly opening for a pc game like some of them do for console titles

im having the same problem done exactly the same as you on the mumble setup (including the different port) and still not working

Set it up on my phone quickly and got in okay.

Looking at the details some had as per below, the port has been specified twice. The address should just be the IP and the port number 6112 entered by itself.

Address: 85.236.101.45:6112
Port: 64738

GAME dispatched my copy on Wednesday but nothing has arrived yet. However they have e-mailed me my preorder code which I've used to make my account. Downloading the game from GW2 website now. Can't wait for Monday!

I've totally overlooked this game.

Can someone summarise why there's such excitement building up to release? Is it really fantastic?...is a lot of it to do with it being a follow up to a very popular game?

Would take a while to sum the game up however here are a couple of articles that do a far better job then I could if you want to check them out.

It seems a large number of the followers didn't even remotely enjoy the first game, but they're breaking the mould a lot with the 2nd game (i.e. getting rid of the Holy Trinity and such) and it has the added bonus of being free after purchase :p m4rk84's links should cover it.

I finally bought 2 copies from Anet, linked them to accounts, all downloaded on 2 PCs and ready to roll ! (thanks to the user who told me to l2read ! I mean it. :) )

We (me&wife) might create a new guild on Desolation. We had a guild in GW1 that ran nicely for about 2 years (until we quit the game), cleared everything on multimple caracters, made lots of friends, had good fun.
I'm aiming to have a relaxed guild, matured people (>25s), multicultural (we speak 4 languages), keep drama to minimum while exploring everything the game has to offer. I've played so many MMOs for so many years and frankly I got fed up with spoiled kids, know-it-all demi-gods and "impressionists"; so no place for those.
I'm putting this here as a different choice: if someone feels they're guild wars newbs, older and/or not wanting to rush it, you're welcome to join, who knows... :)
Gonna decide a name after consulting the chief tonight...

*hopefully you like sarcasm too

this sounds absolutely fantastic, if only you were not on desolation :(

4 languages too! good on you - i hope you have lots of fun in game (and out)

God a few question about the game, appreciate if someone can take time to answer.

Does it have the same feel as original wow?

I understand there's no dedicated healer or tank class. I actually like 5 man tank-healer-dps co-operation, so does GW2 have 4-5-6man dungeon play, where "skills" and co-operation matter. So far I only saw tons of people beat on big bosses, which seems like chaos rather than tactics.

Is there unique gear that lets you stand out, ie like in WoW, seeing a guy with tier 2 helm from onyxia, was pretty epic.

Big problem for me is the chaos (which leads me to believe game is too easy). In WoW there were world bosses but just a random collection of people wouldn't be able to kill it, you'd need designated team, prepared for fight, while in GW2 it seems like there's just tons of people whaling on that big boss and eventually get him down, what's the challenge in that?

getting up at 5am.........hmm I want to but this week at work has been crippling it's going to take all of my reserves and tonnes of dragging me down the hall to the computer room by my gf. I slept for a solid hour at lunch today under a sweater lol.

There are absolutely challenges that only the minority will complete. The rewards for them are not better stats though as the traditional WoW mould would be. There are are however lots of unique gear that only an extremely small percentage of the players in the game will wear.
