What drivers are you ATI guys using? On 7970 my fps is alright, processor holding me back though.

Can't login atm, so lame! Want to level up my thief via grinding so I can actually fight the quest npc's. For some reason I've always been 3-4 levels below, drops lots of loot though killing higher level stuff.

Guess the login and lack of lag was too good to be true. Was busy enough without the millions who didn't pre order it.

I'm really struggling to find convincing reasons to use melee as a Thief.

Shortbow/ranged weapons just tear enemies apart for 1/10th the effort.

I completely agree, but I'm sticking with it, I'm just holding out hope that they improve daggers, because they're terrible at the moment.

I've been doing that recently but I'm not finding it as fun. I've got poisons as my utility skills and I'm not really finding them as effective as I hope, I'm not doing nearly enough damage compared to the party I'm with (2 elementalists and a ranger) It could be down to gearing but outside of drops I'm not really sure how to improve that yet, my crafting isn't high enough.

Shortbow clusterbomb is fun but the rest of the skills on the bow seem a bit weak in comparison (2 is great, 3 is a good 'gtfo of here' skill, 4 is a bit underwhelming damage wise compared to 2 and 5 seems only really useful for travelling a bit quicker)

I agree, it's boring. The main utility I use is the Scorpion thing, just pull people off walls in WvWvW into the middle of a group of people and watch them get torn apart. Lolololol. Other than that I just auto attack with the bow a lot of the time. Tedious but it seems the best option at the moment.

Thief is the best melee for WvW, you can be in the middle of an enemy zerg melee'ing them and be completely safe. I don't think any other melee can do that. You do insane damage to with double daggers if you take power/condition damage gear/traits.

The problem for me is compounded by the fact daggers only have 5 abilities. I'm used to quite an intricate rotation from my WoW rogue, popping lots of melee abilities and being very in control. 5 abilities with cooldowns and Initiative regen when you are up close, getting beat on, seems like a pitiful amount. In contrast, the distance (and hence time) that ranged weapons gives you means that 5 abilities are enough to cover yourself easily. This seems like a fundamental problem, imo. I really don't like the skill-system in this game; even GW1 felt much more complex and versatile.

Has anyone else noticed that the 'issues' only seem to be on EU servers (with regards to ArenaNet's announcements)... odd.

If you change the region in the server select to America, you will notice that none of them say full :/. They are all just set to high, although they have about 3 times as many servers as there are English speaking European ones.
 
How can their servers have been down for an entire hour.

I can't believe I've become one of those people that moans but an hour really is a long time without any updates by areanet.

guild wars 2 is a game that has officially been released today. surely you must realize these things are going to happen? cant you do anything productive until arenanet have fixed the problem?
 
Just hit level 30 on my Necro and having a lot more fun than before.

Playing dual daggers + wells, it's beastly. Using a Staff as my secondary as it gives me the option of melee or max range, also marks make most dynamic events a snooze fest.

Have you tried using this in PvP? I'm thinking of giving this kind of build a try, but can't decide.. and also looking at the builders, I can't decide how to make it anyway! :p
 
Got in, couldn't go any further, so created my Snake Plissken tribute engineer. Couldn't call him Snake, of course, as every single name ever, has gone. So had to be clever...

Then it stopped at the end of the intro.

Now back here. :D
 
Another question regarding elementalists it may be the same for necros and mesmers I'm not sure. Is there any way to get more spells added to my spellbar. Surely there can't be a limit or 7/9 or whatever it is (can't remember off the top of my head). Also will they be adding macros?

You get 5 weapon skills (20 if you include all of the attunements), 1 heal skill, 3 utility skills and an elite skill. That's it.
