Anyone had to open any ports or do anything fancy to get GW2 to work?

Im using BT Infinity...

I keep getting a message: at the end of character creation:

"The game client is unable to gain access to the log-in server at this time. This is most commonly caused by firewall or router settings, security applications or connecting through a campus network."
 
Unfortunately DE's will have a greater element of zerg more often than not, trying to implement complex mechanics into anything where people aren't all able to communicate quickly and efficently just isnt possible. Look how how dumbed down Raids in WoW via the lfr mechanic are for one. Besides they also have the additional complexety of tuning the encounters to 1/2/3 people and 20/30/40 people depending on how many are attempting the DE.

Dont some of the DE's in the higher level zones get more complex?

About damn time too.

RE Overflows, could you not transfer off the more populated servers until pops have calmed down/server capacity has been increased?

No m8 you were not kicked its a game bug. :( wow this is wearing me down a bit now, if I kicked anyone I would explain to them first why I would never just kick a person without talking to them first.

Now onto a good note The immortals just took there very first keep in GW2 :D ..was a warm fuzzy feeling!
 
Guilds are astonishingly bugged at the moment. One moment you don't appear to be in a guild at all, next you're the only one in it, then you can't represent, or you're told you're not in a guild when you use guild chat, or your guild chat appears 5 minutes after you've typed it.

It's all a bit Funcom tbh :(
 
The server populations have no bearings on anything other than queues, not the lag not the guild problems, I would still recommend that if you gonna join join the busiest server in the long run its always the best option.



I'm still feeling all warm and fuzzy as I strut around our keep ... told the guys that no bugger dare go to bed tonight and lose my keep :D

I created a toon this morning & am currently logged in (have BT Infinity)

I logged out a while ago to try & see if a name had freed up & got this msg too.. safe to say its their end.
