Guild Wars 2

Guardians seem like they're going to be very strong in PvE because their AoE tanking buffs people so strongly. I did AC yesterday and was surprised how much of a breeze it was (after struggling in there on my engineer) just because I was mace and shield AoE supporting allies, people took very little damage. I also was very tanky individually, tanking one of the lovers bosses solo (while my team took down the other) was a walk in the park. I don't know how strong they'll be in PvP yet, I suspect weaker than PvE because there's less times you'll be grouped up and their DPS isn't too strong, but I've not tried a damage build yet, so I might just be underestimating how much damage they can output with the right build or done much PvP at all so might not realise how often there's large team fights (talking proper PvP not WvWvW here).

I've got a level 42 guardian but I've got for a 2h crit build and the damage is great, I can destroy groups in seconds. I have also done some wvw, when it will actually let me in, and it is so good. I can kill anyone really quickly and I'm really tough to kill. Took 8 people to run me down the other day.

The only negative is that the range is awful so you have to play defensively and wait for a small group to break away then jump on the and rip them apart with aoes. My favourite skill though is the reflector shield, I just run at the enemy team drop the shield in front of me and watch them kill themselves with reflected damage :p

You got a link to your guardian build? Ive just hit 40 so have got a free trait reset and I'm thinking of changing my build for a more tanky one. I am currently a condition/spirit weapon build but find the spirit weapons a bit annoying to activate mid fight and would prefer something more passive.

EDIT* I can get into trading for the first time! sort of...

For party tanking I have 20 points in Valor with the Strength in Numbers and Defender's Shield perks and I'm currently building into Honor with the Writ of Exaltation perk. Generally using a 1h mace and shield with a 2h mace in my 2nd slot. My skills are Shelter on 6, Radiation Field, Signet of "Judgment" (sic) and Signet of Mercy. I use the Renewed Focus elite. Generally I just don't die a lot unless I get very overwhelmed and with the improved healing and toughness, I can keep myself and my party alive a long time. I've toyed with the idea of the other elites (specifically Tome of Courage) but because they replace your weapon skills, you lose a lot of defensive power.

I'm planning on going 10 points in radiance for Signet Mastery, 20 in Valor with the above two skills, 20 in Honor for Pure of Heart (along with Writ of Exaltation) and 20 in Virtues for Retaliatory Subconscious and I'm not sure about the 2nd one, but there's a few good ones, Elite Focus, Absolute Resolution and Indomitable Courage all look pretty good.

I don't know if that's any good, but it's what I'm going with at the moment. ^^

Is there a way around the bug that says "You are not in a guild" when you try to talk in the guild, and doesn't allow you to even see guild chat? Or is everybody getting it?

Did you press G then click "represent"?

Yea, I've just done a couple of games on my guardian and the damage is better than I thought. I still need to play to see what I like, I got ripped apart by a thief with guns but apart from that I seemed to do ok with a damage build. I think the trick's going to be trying to take a cross between support and damage so you can throw some punches but in small group fights you can help your ally too. I might try a scepter and shield instead of mace and shield in case I'm getting badly kited.

One thing I don't get about storage for crafting materials is, do I place them all in the collectibles tab or my bank storage? The bank storage is limited while the collectibles has dedicated slots for each item which is great. However when it comes to crafting or discovering, do I have to keep withdrawing it from collectibles or can I just leave them there stacked up?

So far, I'm not able to craft or discover anything without first withdrawing all the materials I need from collectibles into my personal storage, which is a hassle and when I'm done, I have to then deposit it all back so my bags aren't full.

Maybe I'm doing it wrong? In WoW, it had the same idea but at least I could have both the profession and bank storage panes up so I could view them side by side and see what I need to withdraw specifically.

There's a button in the top right corner of your bag (a cog) that allows you to deposit all collectibles at once. And once you're more used to crafting you'll know which ones to withdraw when you need them.

Also remember you can access your bank and collectibles tab from any crafting station.

I completely agree with the OP - it's been bugging me too. It would seem a lot simpler if you could get your bank and crafting panes open at the same time, but there doesn't seem to be a way of doing this

The second coment relates to geting the materials into storage, not about how you can then use them...

This is getting frustrating now, can't log in because it wants me to authorise my login attempt, but the E-mail just sends me to a 502 error page.

I haven't been able to play the game for 3 days because of my account being hacked. The customer service is absolutely shocking. Waiting 2 days for a reply now.
