Guild Wars 2

Support not replying to me yet so annoying, want my account back ffs, i havent even logged in once yet since the game is out. just baffled how they changed my email.

Will just address your post point-by-point ..........

Cheers for the reply :)

I've seen your post about how 'not social' the game is, and to be honest, that was probably the reason I was looking into it.
I enjoy some co-op gameplay.

I used to enjoy doing instances with pals.

The levelling was just a means to an end with me. As far as I was concerned the only reason to level up was to access different instances, unlike most people who wanted to brag that they were level 'x' or that they had the greatest super duper pretend sword.
I just enjoyed the gameplay itself.

The impression I get from your post is that people don't often get together to specifically team up and take down a specific monster, and if they do that monster might not be around.

Very good point on it being cheap with no fees, and so probably worth a punt, but I'm leaning away from it now TBH.

Cheers again for the reply :)

While I actually agree with some of Inkursion's last post, I would get a few more opinions before you dismiss it. He unfortunately has been bashing the game the whole way through the launch/this thread and I'm not sure he is giving it a fair trial. Some of the stuff he says does have a point, but I feel he is becoming a little biased now. Personally I have been playing mmo's for a good while and am finding GW2 to be a breath of fresh air.

Inkursion: Please don't take the above as a pop at you, it isn't intended like so. :)

Question for anyone who's completed Metrica Province - the skill quest in the top right corner (in the inquest lab), "black ice 4444"; is this broken? Everyone who goes up to it can't seem to interact with it.
It worked for me. Just clicked on the ghost golem thing and it activated,
Is that the guard-robot? Was working for me on Desolation a few days ago.
Interesting, I've gone up to it multiple times (relaunching the game, coming back after doing other events), clicking on it and trying to interact and nothing happens. Same goes for every other player I've seen doing the same thing, and that's a lot of players. Maybe it's a recent bug and it was working a few days ago?

I don't think I've been 'bashing' the game, that just makes it seem plainly derogatory. I just don't share the 'OMFG NEW GAME DESIGN YAY' enthusiasm that so many other people do. In-game, on the /map chat, you see this thing over and over... people saying "go play WoW if you want crappy boring MMO, this is new and it's awesome!" etc. Just swallowing the hype and marketing that has sold this new design. Nobody seems to really be properly questioning both sides of it. In my above post I said it definitely has its strengths - I just recommended the game to above-poster based on said-strengths - but it also has drawbacks. Everyone playing GW2 seems determined to view the entire 'old system' as misery, toil and tedium... but that's not really true, is it? It's an airbrushed way of looking back at previous MMO design. I think GW2 is better for some things, but the 'success' of the new system is still far from established as a given. Most GW2 players seem to be triumphantly assuming that it is; this is fanboyism of the worst kind.

Until I've got a player to maximum level and have experience in PvP, most zones and high level crafting along with time for the player base to mature I don't think I'll be praising or bashing it. I like bits, dislike others but the fact I can play it as a casual player for 20mins and enjoy it is a good start.

I'm not convinced people playing it 20+hours a week will be around for long though.

Indeed... I'm not making any grand pronouncements about the overall game, just about the massively revised leveling experience. All I'm saying is that it feels markedly more solo and individual than any other leveling experience I've gone through thus far. Pros and cons to that, depending on what you want from an MMO.

Sorry, maybe bashing was too harsh a word. But you have come across like you really aren't enjoying the game and seem to want to talk about it's bad points a lot. I purely just wanted to point that out as I felt you were maybe being a little biased now.

Again, sorry if I have interpreted your posts wrong, like I said.. I had no intention of having a pop/dig at you :)

Still having lots of fun at lv 19. The brawler main quest for the Nord is awesome. You literally duel it out against like minitaurs in front of a crowd 1v1 to get to the top

I'm going to give it a miss for now. Was looking for some coop and some banter.
If the curiosity to play is still there I might pick it up on payday anyway..

Don't be put off by InKursions bitterness, he does have some valid points but I think he is a Blizzard employee in disguise all the time he spends trying to put people off this game ;)

With you it seems people are just one or the other.

1) this game is very very social, if you finding it's not, look to yourself.
2) yes ofc the game has issues it's new wt do you expect
3) yes there are a few things I would have different but on the whole the games being real fun to play, more so if you actually take part in the social side.
4) and yes all you being doing since day one is diss the game, you wow much :D

Quite proud of how creepy this little chap I made is :D

How do you display the mask on your necro? I've tried both ticking the box and unticking it, yet no mask shows.

Must admit I think SWTOR was far more "solo", I've actually moved server to play with friends from other MMOS now as I wasn't finding many people on and willing to group with a casual player as often as I'd like. Doesn't help that guild chats etc are hit and miss though.

This game is so bad for my OCD with all the collectables to get in each zone, I've got to the position where I refuse to leave a zone until I have 100%. I would probaly be level 40 by now if it wasn't for this obsession :p

I would like to say that there's a special place in hell for the devs who made the vistas and points of interest. I had one poi which you had to get to through a tiny hole underwater hidden by kelp, I don't know how I found it I just randomly swam at the wall

There was also a vista where the steps up to it were about half the map away from the vista. It took me ages to find. I do feel a massive sense of achievement though when I get it. :p

Trust me, you are not alone. 3 regions down, all 100%. The rewards are worth the effort :) Loving the game.

Without getting into the whole argument about what new things GW2 brings to the table in MMORPG terms, one thing it does bring is a superb game engine.

Coming from SWTOR (Worst game engine ever imo) and The Secret World, Areanet really have choose a superb game engine that can handle tons of players on screen without affecting performance, Bioware are you watching, this is what World PVP should run like :D

The constant patches also have impressed me especially for a sub free game
