Guild Wars 2

When I go to the tradepost it stays that the market is down is it just my luck or because i'm only at lvl 4?

I think crafting is great and not a grind and I'm a first time MMO player. It took me a full 2 days to understand it which is fine imo.
I get it now and its fun.

It's only a grind if you want to be crafting lv 75 items immediately (lv 75 crafting not lv 75 character).

It's only grinding if you dedicate your time to mining, and chopping trees. If you play your zones and events, get the zones to 100%, you will naturally accumulate a lot of resources.

But yes, it's dam hard to get some thing like jute or blood vails which you only get from drops. I guess you just gotta keep killing everything you run into.

I'm lv 24 and crafting lv 44 which I think is fine.

These are the best steps as I understand for pre-lv75 crafting. (armour)
  1. Get ahold of basic crafing materials: wood, ore, jute for the sake of example
  2. First thing to do in the crafting view is go to the list of recipes and find the REFINING tab. Refine as much as you can until the item text turns from gold to grey.
  3. Go to the COMPONENTS tab. Create equal amounts of all the components as much as you can until all the item text turns from gold to grey.
  4. Then create the third ingredient in the list of recipes needed to actually make an item, in the case of armour I believe it's an 'insignia' (sigil for weapons).
  5. Then you finally go to the discovery tab, this is where you get the bulk of experience, add two of the components you created earlier out of your refined materials. Add your insignia and then start discovering!

This is the case for pre-lv 75 btw because you can't really use the random item drops yet such as scales and dust etc as the majority require lv 50+

I see some people are finding the game too hard. I guess this is what playing wow for too long does to you Inkursion. I like to support games that are challenging like this and the secret world which I will be purchasing shortly.

My Guardian. Quite the badass. :D

Maybe my memory is clouded but in my opinion gw2 crafting is the biggest grind in mmo I played. In fact after dedicating a whole day to to running around and collecting recourse I still couldnt get lvling up to where it supposed to be ( when my natural zones only have iron and no copper).

Lvl 46 now with armor at weaponsmith at 40/75 each, I have decided to lvl them by buying resources from trade post when it's up, otherwise it's an unfathomable grind. At least that's my experience :p

All you people struggling with crafting leveling need to use the recipe discover more, best exp for the mats used.

Checkout this crafting guide:

paying particular attention to the "Crafting Basics C: The Discovery Process" section.

Aye that's very good advice, which I did not know before I gave up.

I don't think they are any hard games apart from something like starcraft (I exclude fps e-sports as they're not hard in my opinion, it's just development of twitch).

I went to AC recently, we were all quite above lvl 30 so had skill points advantage and I wouldn't say it was fun nor challenging. Enemies took ages to kill, bosses were simple but again took even longer to kill. no tank dedicated tank, no dedicated healer, it was chaos, try to damage enemies when can, try to revive friends when can. One of the bosses I had to revive and run back around 3 times. I understand they have no enrage timer.

Perhaps I am still learning and have not figured the game out yet, but so far dungeons seem to be "hit on this dude for ages until he dies, if you die just revive and come back and keep hitting".

Can u switch servers and represent another for WvW? Most people in desolation simply cannot get on WvW at all

Im on desolation, joined queue at 10am got in at 11:30 so about 1h30m wait and I consider it quite lucky, when I entered later 2 hours wasn't enough and I just gave up. Such massive queues is a huge minus of this game, you can't expect people to queue for 2hours to get in, some people only have 2hours to play a day.

and u starting queing in the morning when lots of people are working/in school so imagine later in the evening.

i dont know what the solution is for this matter but so far i have not tried WvW in the retail version.

i have tried it in the beta's but thats about it. any newcommer that wants to try WvW is screwed.

If you transfer to a new server then yes you can represent/fight for that server. them.

I.E you join Gandara, then you fight WvWvW for Ganadara.
Only if you transfer off Desolation, that still free? Or you can hope that as it stables out queue times get lower, or ANet increase the pops for WvW

It will definitely get better, think a lot of the time its bugged and not full.

Got on yesterday late and there was only a few in but other guild members could still not enter, games a week old these things will even out.
