We lost to the Vizunah Square a week ago just as badly. They seem highly organized and there is very little you can do vs a server that at 4am has pop cap in all 4 borderlands and happily spends over 2 gold on siege equipment per keep they take on 24 hour resets.

I do think most players on Desolation are (a) terrible at PvP/WvW and merely follow the person infront and hope for the best (b) under the illusion Desolation is the #1 in the EU when right now we're probably lucky if we're top 3.

Who knows, with so many lowbies too many people are undergeared, don't bring the support/damage and are chasing XP over winning in WvW. Not enough people are buying siege equipment and those that are place it really bad positions. My guild is a member of the Infinity Alliance which has a sole purpose to make Desolation #1 EU - but right now nobody has any interest at all whilst it's on 24 hour reset and aren't going to bother with organized WvW until the 2 week cycles start.

I keep getting my Mesmer stuck under the level whilst using phase retreat on the staff, anybody else having this issue? It's pretty annoying in the middle of a fight and you suddenly end up underwater and unable to teleport to a waypoint because you are in combat :/

Desolation will continue to see average performance in WvW for the foreseeable future the reasoning for this has little to do with skill so much and more to do with population size. You get some bonuses being such a high population server you also get some fairly major negatives.

The server has such a high population that there's always a reasonable number of players in WvW for Desolation which is a good thing for night raids and things like that. However the extreme amount of players means the groups we get on the map are just large disorganised mess's.

Desolation will always just be middle of the road WvW server unless we get lucky and a large amount of players migrate server to a more successful server hoping to leach the glory.

I always find these kind of conversations rather funny, this game has being out 10 days, we have no idea yet who is strong/weak well run/ poorly run.

Reminds me a lot of the conversations in swtor (as that's recent but could be almost any of the last 1/2 dozen mmo)

WvWvW is a marathon not a sprint guys, like in swtor, the sith may have dominated on our server the first month or so, but once we got organised we wiped them.

For me WvWvW for now is just a run along with the Zerg and watch both/all 3 sides. I like to have a long good look before we form our wvwvw strategy.

I would think very few if any guilds have the commanders badge yet except maybe Vizunah, which does show they may be very organised.
Without that it's pretty hard to sort teams, and that's when we can even get 10 immortals in the same BG.

Point here is this is a conversation for 2 months down the road.

Lol we have not even begun to research anything that buffs us in WvWvW, we just done all the big ones for other things first.

Let's wait till we in as full guild runs (i.e. 30 from one guild in) and then see how it goes.

This the 3rd time we have lost, and I que'd from 5:30 and got in at 11:45:(.(pm)

we lose because idiots want to kill the worm everytime its up and whilst thats happening we lose everything....
then when the worm is dead everyone wants to try and take SM constantly even if its got a zerg inside defending :rolleyes:

none bothers upgrading our stuff anymore because you put cannons on a castle so its easy to defend and everyone decides its not worth defending because its better rewards to retake if after :rolleyes:

people just wanting to exp and gain levels with no real interest in WvW are spoiling it for those who want to win

btw loads of people go afk aswell to eat their dinners etc because seemingly theres no afk kick timer in there

Struggling with tailoring as a prof on my necro, can never get the mats! Only 11/75 and to be fair I'm enjoying the game so much I don't particularly want to spoil my enjoyment by having to farm :p

Great game though so far, as others have mentioned really enjoying taking it easy and just taking in all the sights and seeing all the events. Great game! :D

Level 17 when I finished up in Metrica myself, took us 45 minutes to take down the fire elemental. Damn funny sight watching people trying to rez others to close to the boss and getting one shot :p

If your finding yourself struggling due to levelling then you can get nigh on 2 levels from 100%'ing Lions Arch

Don't forget there are 3 jumping puzzles
Also behind the curve with crafting, not massively fussed though.

I LOVE this game

Yeah we did, always on fella. Maybe just haven't seen you about, guilds have been pretty buggy since launch half the people don't even see guild chat or can't even represent. It's been a little bit better lately though, although we are looking at other servers with less WvWvW queue times, but it's hard finding one without it being a ghost server.

So was I , though I think I need to do some reading on it because I dont really understand how the trading post works yet. I'm not sure who I am buying something from, or who is buying something from me. If I put up a sword and there are 40 of that sword up for sale, and someone buys one, do they buy my one, or someone elses one , or how does it work??

Yeah there does seem to be about 50 of everything on there. I click on my level and an armor slot and there is always the best in slot item available each level for about 1 silver lol it's a bargain! I can afford fresh gear and weapons every 2 levels without really touching my gold. Such is the huge amount of items and competition between sellers to get to the top of the pile on price.

I'll never bother selling anything except rare pets based on what I've seen so far, it's just not worth it lol why bother selling a sword for 5 silver when you can get a few useful bits out of it.

I got online 730 and was in Desolation borderlands by 745-750.

It's irritating we cant organise a proper guild run of it and instead just have to hope we end up together :(
 
Bah, maintaience and can't log in now, I'd just found a great event chain too.

Level 73 on my guardian now, closing in on 80 quickly.

Anyone know how to get the armour yet? I've heard it's the same as GW1 so I assume that it'll be fairly easy to pick up if you can find it. Only 80 armour I've seen so far is the tier 3 and that's crazy expensive. I've got the armour skin you buy from gems so I'm gonna be wanting decent armour asap ^^

Yeah its pretty painful the way it works/or does not work, it just randomly lets people in regardless of que times, I can que for 2 hours, and Blounty will log in and que and be in in 30 minutes ... :( ..makes me wanna cry I love all WvWvW its very good for my little general syndrome :D
