Safe to say that I am hyping myself into a little ball of gooey game jizm for this.
I've been desperately searching for something to fill the Vanilla/TBC WoW void ever since that game dropped off into mediocrity. Every other MMO to come along has been a laughable attempt, really. 4 years ago I heard about Guild Wars 2 and I am actually really excited that it is now even at a point where gaming forums all over the place are discussing it... and 1 mill. beta sign-ups. Just wow. I hope it's here in the next 6 months!
Tell me about it, I loved playing GW1 with my friends at school.
We clocked over 3000 hours each on that game from launch until graduation and we still have a guild on it.
I played wow, as well. It was good, I mainly played it because of how much I enjoyed the Warcraft lore from 1,2 and 3.
Then like you say it dropped into mediocrity.
I was hoping Warhammer Online would be good, it looked so promising, then EA got their grubby hands on it. We tried to so hard to enjoy the game and it was fun, until you got past lvl 30...
I Still have an original collectors edition fully sealed an unopned.
We tried
RF online, ugh what a disaster.
Knight Online
DOAC ( which was great, and many of my friends till play it )
DDO, good game but it wasn't based in the Forgotten Realms, so we couldn't get our Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale and NWN fixes

EVE : Good game, although it gets boring quickly once you have skills that take weeks. ( I keep getting emails saying I can play for free because of all the ISK I have

)
Final Fantasy XI
LOTR, Just not my cup of green tea.
Star Trek online, good looking game. No end game at all really.
Now onw SWTOR, but the fun is fading for me. I really like Star Wars, always have always will. I think think the game is lacking somehow and I think EA is to blame again.
If GW2 is even 70% as good as GW1 was for us, well we're going to be spending a lot of time playing it
