Guild Wars 2

You can Q for them all, Just go back on the tab and click them, quite often ill go in the first one thats pops, then a few minutes later ill get let into eternal or another server

Oh ! Really? I didnt know that, I just assumed it un-queued you from each one when you queued for another as I've never had one pop that wasnt the last one I had queued for.

For my Mesmer I roll with staff first slot and S/P in other slot. I think the staff is a bit underated, its not great for zerging but it has some real useful utilty skills in it I also like using the staff in conjunction with Shatters which has some nice dmg.

The the S/P is great for that extra bit of power to zerg. Seems quite a popular combo too. I've read on other forums some Mesmers rolling with S/P and S/P so they can get 2-3 iDuelist's phantasms with ease by weapon swapping. My only prob with S/P is I don't like getting in close to use the #1 skill with sword and #2 is freaking great but only really useful if you can get a daze or stun in quickly b4 you use it to get full effect. Or in PVE where mobs don't move around so much.

The other thing I want to play about with more is the Greatsword for Mesmer. I see quite a few Mesmers running with them and on other forums a lot of people thing the GS is one of the best weaps for Mesmer but I just can't see it. Just feels extremely weak and the skills like #3 (I think the radial sword stab in the ground) means losing moblity as you have to stand to cast it as well as target it. I guess everyone has their own playstyle. I might need to play about with the GS a bit more.

This game is pretty boring at end game. It seems they tried to create a DAoC style RvR but they've put no emphasis on small roaming group PvP, just massive zergs. The game also suffers the same problem that DAoC had in that it encourages alarm clock raids. Also being able to AoE stuff that you can't even see makes defending a keep when you are outnumbered impossible with the only option to redirect a zerg of equal numbers to defend. And which moron decided it would be a good idea to put jumping puzzles in WvW maps?

The sPvP is horrible, objective based PvP blows - not to mention it highlights how much better Mesmers, Guardians, and Thieves are compared to all other classes.

Any form of open field PvP is going to be large numbers of players togeather in a zerg, group vs group pvp as seen in DAoC was not as common as you think and really only became common later in the games life.

Alarm clock raiding is not something you will ever be able to counter because people play at different times and in different time zones. Moaning because xyz took your keep at 4am isn't going to get you anywhere. They just happen to play at those times. If your not happy about that, log in at 4am and defend.

Each class as its good and bad points, I think the game is too young to even think that one class is better than another because people are still learning and more importantly everyone seems to be going the glass cannon route. Once people learn how to gear and spec properly things will change.

The reason you may feel that mesmers/guardians are so strong is because you can be certain they are using gear built for survivability power/toughness or vitality and condition damage. Yet others are still going down the pure damage route power/precision/critical damage.

I can easily go head to head with 2-3 people in pvp and kill one before im dead, because im geared and specced correctly. Does that make my mace/shield and hammer warrior overpowered? Not at all. But you can guarantee someone somewhere will moan about it.

Big fan of the staff, before I looked into the weapons much this became my staple weapon for the Mesmer, it's by far the most diverse especially when near others and not playing solo. Greatsword looks good, but I agree it's pretty pants from what I've seen, not sure if there are any real combos possible from it at all. Only time I used a GS was when it was my only weapon at under level 10 :p

The aoe through keep doors was a bit of a shock the first time I saw it happen. It just seemed such an obvious thing coming from DaoC and Warhammer. Given how much attention to detail they've put into the rest of the game, I couldn't quite believe they'd let something like that slip through.

I think I have missed the first dungeon as in story mode? is that just the letter showing you where it is?

I am level 39 so I think I should get myself there. What do I get as a reward?

Hi, anyone else rolled thief? Just wondering if anyone has any generic advice for someone quite new to the game still, playing Theif Profession.

So far I'm trying to put every stat into Critical (precision) and Power as a secondary. Any useful tips/tricks etc you can offer for me?

I'm level 70 in thief. I've found it best to go ranged. I started of as dual daggers but just found it to difficult to avoid damage that close up. I really like both shortbow and pistol/dagger. Shortbow offers great AOE damage while pistol dagger is very mobile and great against bosses. I tried a precision build but am going mostly into power and condition damage now.

Best tip is just to stay mobile, we have so many skills that allow us to mvoe around and dodge attacks. Oh and USE STEAL, I'm really guilty of this one but it is a powerful ability (especially when you get some traits that improve it) and I find it so easy to forget about it.

I have gone duel daggers/short bow. I have gone into Condition Damage, Crit and Duration. I find that If you go in with daggers apply all posions and then bleeds Its great you just watch health go further down.

Later I apply the steal which gives you more initiave which you can get another 3 stacks of bleeds. And everytime you dodge you lay spikes (cant remember the name) which also slows them and adds 1 more bleed. Also I have steal which adds posion too.

I have gone condition damge in gear too. I never have a problem. If I do switch to short bow. Both set ups have great AoE.

Yeah, I found the best damage output is daggers/swords dual wield in my primary attack but also have pistal/sword in my OH weapon combo, so to speak.

My main skills are based on grinding at the moment, so anything that calls help (Traps, summon theives to help) and then poisons really help beat people down fast.

As I've stayed dual wield almost the entire time so far, I'm used to dodging, stealing, etc. The Theif is a burst damage in and out kinda guy. I also change to secondary skills quite a bit to shoot things when ranged or if I'm backing out from a boss to avoid getting hit. Seems to work well. I figured might as well learn to apply the right skill for the right situation on the fly.

Im only 40 on my Thief but really enjoy Sword/Pistol and Shortbow cominbation. It works pretty damn good, although id say it is mainly for PVE for PVP unless you use haste then it doesn't reall work all that well.

I am struggling with a skill - In my weapon slots I seem to have a few missing but I am sure I have tried everything.

It might be for the pistol/'Light' I think it was can any1 help me out.

I can find out later on tonight if people dont know off the top of the heads.

oops sorry I wasn't really reading. Thieves can use:

Two-handed
Shortbow — Ranged mobile weapon with AoE attacks and shadow step ability.

Main-hand
Sword — Flanking sword attacks provide extra evasiveness and controls enemy movement.
Dagger — Jump on a foe, attack quickly and inflict many conditions on them.
Pistol — Ranged shots from pistol leave enemies vulnerable to following attacks.

Off-hand
Dagger — Gives access to close range skills which allow quick escape by crippling the enemy or vanishing from sight.
Pistol — Ranged weapon used to quickly retreat or to daze the target by a shot to the head or from a pistol whip.

Aquatic
Harpoon gun — Bombard enemy with ranged attacks or pull them in, stab them and shadow step away.
Spear — Rapid melee attacks spiced up with the usual thief tricks.
