Guild Wars 2

I wish the Desolation community was like the community from when I played DAoC. I was in eternal battlegrounds for a little bit today after the servers came back up, and Kaeyi Dream from Somnium has a commanders badge and tried to lead people rather than everyone just running randomly, and yet there were some people insulting here saying why should they follow here, others insulting her for not giving the orders they wanted given etc... and eventually she logged off.

I'm not surprised that out of the 5 commanders on desolation that several of them hate it because if the idiots in chat, I even saw Arknor there complaining about the commander, yet when someone suggests that those complainers try lead, or give orders they suddenly start trying to give excuses.

The GW2 community is really disappointing at times :(

sorry but your friend needs to toughen up if you want to manage computer nerds... she has to ignore chat and don't respond to people moaning.

Think it's just people on the Internet in general these days, most are total asshats.

I don't believe that the only ones that are in /map are the ones who have finished the game and are now trolling ignore them and the game is still pretty nice.

you want to see real asshats just read youtube comments. :p

The commander needs respect from the players in the community, its not going to work if someone random nobody steps up and tries to lead and tell people what to do.

The problem is, those without the commanders badge don't even try, and those with it have trouble earning respect from random players as they just insult the commanders rather than trying to assist them. I've played many previous games that didn't involve a commanders badge or such things, but players still followed others, they didn't need a blue icon above their head. At the very least there are guilds that have put together 100g to get this badge which is more than most people to try and organize WvW, and if you don't like a commander then simply don't follow them, yes they can just ignore the insults but the point is they shouldn't have to.

WvWvW is one big mess. Interesting concept, disastrous result. GW2 isn't 'hardcore' enough or punishing enough to new players to incentivize or encourage them in any way to be 'serious'. To have a community that wants to work together to get stuff done, you have to have a semi-hardcore, serious atmosphere in game. GW2 fosters idiocy, casualness, and noob-play. No wonder when a commander logs on to bark out orders, a bunch of weekend-warriors giggle and find it slightly ridiculous.

I couldn't agree more.

Maybe overtime though if GW2 keeps enough people interested in WvW, and the server creates tighter community, WvW could become a better experience for both random players and commander badge holders.

Well it's not down the drain, the guilds who have it can still use it to help organize WvW for their own guild/allied guilds and if this keeps up they will just do it entirely for them and not do anything in WvW with randoms at all.

Not really sure what you expect to happen. As far as I can tell everyone has been saying how WvWvW is just one massive zergfest anyway, will take a while for things to get organised.

Assuming it'll ever change from this random state of disorganised zergs is very... optimistic. That implies there's a hidden skill curve or strategy that new players are 'missing'. I don't think WvWvW even has a skill curve. It's always going to be a large zergy mess. Again, interesting concept on paper, disastrous result.

Once we get this :(, I will set this as guild only, (better be able to set it to guild only) ..think as most people in the guild knows I like to lead WvW, but I also have zero tolerance for bullst!
I'm pretty sure if/when we get 30 players in with all the correct equipment w e will do fine.

I think as a guild once we start we will be OK, we will also get to know other players/guilds that we can invite into our runs, and we will also know who to make sure is never in ..**looks down!

Arknor whining never, he never whines

How active are the Immortals on Planetside 2?

Not a lot but there is always a few playing (4 right now that I can see on mumble) it most of the day, once it is out we will be extremely active :D, lots have already bought the Alpha deal

Those with Commanders badges really do need to just ignore the ******* idiots who give them ****.

I'd rather listen and follow someone with a Commanders Badge then follow the zerg. Even if we get wiped. Either way were going to have to otherwise we'll never get the upper hand over the other rrealms we are fighting.
