Guild Wars 2

Just had someone try to login to my account from China, has anyone had this problem, im running full scans with several programs now and have changed my password, nothing found yet on my system, how do they get your details?

Thanks god for arena net having the IP check, clever system in a place that

They probably just brute force your password or get it from a list. Make sure your password is a strong one.

Love this game so much (just had to get that out there...)!

Are The Immortals still rocking on Desolation? How many players do you have active per evening?

I was a member briefly on SWTOR.

They don't brute force it, that would take years and the login form almost definitely blocks that kind of thing. A 'strong' password doesn't really do anything if you have poor computer security and/or download bad files. A password with many characters is better than a 'strong' one with special characters but not many of them. It's best to keep your game and website logins with different passwords, so if someone gets your OcUK password they can't take your GW2 account.

I think punishing people that buy gold is ridiculous, it solves nothing overall. It's like arresting someone with a small bag of weed in their pocket, nothing is really changed. How is people buying gold bad when you can buy it in-game?

I don't think botting really affects the game economy in a big way. It's as if people enjoy grinding the same part over and over again instead of buying it cheap from the trading post.

all good having a strong password, just don't use the same password for more than 1 thing.

Anyone gimme some advice on my thief ? I am level 32 now (i done a few starter areas to level up ) I am currently in lornar's pass which is for my lvl (im abit high for it ) .

I am wearing the best greens available on ah and have a green pistol/sword . Mostly specced power/crit but i just feel so fragile . If i get more than 1 mob i just die and even some of the single mobs gimme a hard time . I logged out in disgust after trying to get to a skill point in a cave last night and dying multiple times .

I am not new to mmo's .. Played UO/WOW/AO etc etc . But never have i played a mmo that makes me feel so under powered .

try dagger/dagger with ice drake and skale venom and scorpion wire, the death blossom from dagger/dagger evades attacks while damaging nearby foes and the venoms will chill and weaken foes making them less likely to hurt you as much, plus with scorpion wire you can pick and choose what you want to fight by pulling it to you and use thieves guild for a little bit of extra meat shield help when your on your own.

Yes we are still on Desolation, our active players have dropped a bit recently though, with the WoW expansion, uni starting up for some people and the fact that after 1 to 2 months of a MMO player numbers drop a bit, so Desolation has less players around than previous. That being said though we still have enough people when we schedule proper WvW to form a nice group, Nemeses has been leading some Orr farming runs of a couple groups of people and we have a fair few other people online too crafting, leveling alts, playing the market etc..

I started a small guild just with some mates. We're all really enjoying the game and would like to join a bigger guild to get involved in some more coordinated WvWvW, raids, farming etc, so this sounds like just what we're after.

There are 5 of us that play most evenings. I am already of member of the guild website (registered as Rhaegar), any chance of some in-game invites or do they all need to do forum applications and all that jazz?

Cheers

Get them to sign up to the website and then just message any officer (listed on the roster on the left of the website) ingame for an invite. :)

Keep in mind though that although GW2 allows for being in multiple guilds, as a rule in The Immortals we expect people who are a member of the guild in GW2 to be representing only this guild.

Is this happening to anyone else?

when you sell an item at the trading post and you click on the pick up tab there's no coin there for collection,it use to show before how much I had to collect but since friday its not there anymore, bloody annoying

I'm no expert, im still pretty newbie to GW2 but i find the utility skills help me a lot if i get into trouble, hitting ambush, thieves guild and shadow refuge i find is a good combination.

Is the skill point the one with all the dredge? I gave up fighting my way in as there were too many and the respawn was too quick so i slotted all my stealth skills, ran in hit hide in shadows when i was low, got to the skill point and hit shadow refuge, did the clicky then ran out.

It'd also help to diversify your gear a bit - going full glass cannon is ok, but you're not gonna get far soloing the tougher skill challenges or picking through a field of mobs if you have no survivability. Eventually you're gonna get hit hard, and it helps to have a respectable defence & health pool when that happens, even if it means it takes you a bit longer to slaughter your way through a mob of Risen.

Lol @ calling people scum over a video game.

Get a grip.

I know. I think it is kind of pathetic that these people get so up tight over a virtual world. It is a bit sad really.

I think I have been called scum now on 3 occasions due to admitting buying gold on wow several years back. In all honesty I would rather be ex gold buying scum than an apparent loser who takes a video game so seriously that they get personally offended at the virtual actions of another. Each to their own:p

It's nothing to do with taking a game too seriously, its all about how buying gold from a third party destroys the economy in a game.

Look at WoW, Diablo 3 and any other game released in the past 10 years.

Buying gold from a gold farmer directly affects the economy of the game in a way that would hinder growth, by injecting 100's of gold into the game, you inflate the cost of all commodities making it hard for new players to get into the game.

The only option for them is to also buy gold and so begins the endless cycle. That and the fact seeing 30+ bots camping one area for days on end impacts the game play of individual players and most if not all gold farmers are using stolen accounts.

It's not an excuse, many people do not know how to make gold in sufficient numbers to buy some of the higher end items. Look at the exotics for legendary weapons, they cost 100's of gold.

Many people don't have the time farm that much money so resort to gold farmers who sell gold for 1/5th the price of ArenaNET.

Personally I'm fine with gold in game, I made over 25g in my first week of trading on the TP and making a decent sum of gold each week now from just buying and selling the occasional item.

It's generally what happens, not just in Guild Wars but in other games as well.

Do all gold farmers use stolen accounts, no probably not, is it safe to assume that a majority do, yes. I can see why they would as well, if ArenaNET have banned over 1600 accounts so far, I very much doubt a gold farmer would be happy if they just lost $96k from buying license keys. If they use stolen accounts, they lose nothing.

I felt like this. And I still do tbh. You're a Thief (rogue/shadow). You are supposed to die easily.

Also. I have never specced more than 10 points into Power, while leveling I went for crit/toughness/trickery.

At 80 I have 10 power, 30 crit, 30 trickery and will still die very fast to a level 80 mob, the only difference being that it dies 100 times faster.

Pick your fights, kite mobs away from others or use scorpion wire to pull away (this works like 20% of the time, if there is a small rock or slight elevation between you and your target your scorpion wire will fail).

And if all goes to crap, bravely run away, brave Sir Robin ;)
