I'm just miffed that 6 accounts and 25,000+ hours and I get no invite.
, aren't entirely stupid , they know that most people use beta as a free demo to see if they will buy a product, in which case it makes less sense to invite someone who had 6 gw accounts and put in thousands of hours into gw1, because that person is more likely to buy gw2 anyway. So makes more sense to invite the people who are on the fence, or less inclined to purchase and attempt to create a new customer, rather than a continuing customer.GW2 said:Yes, beta invitations have begun going out. They'll be sent out over the next few days.
I suppose that kind of makes sense though, I mean devs , despite popular belief, aren't entirely stupid , they know that most people use beta as a free demo to see if they will buy a product, in which case it makes less sense to invite someone who had 6 gw accounts and put in thousands of hours into gw1, because that person is more likely to buy gw2 anyway. No they aren't. Being a fan of MMOs or a fan of Anet would but being a fan of GW when the 2 games have nothing in common doesn't mean much.
They probably have brackets anyway... really doubt they care too much once it goes beyond 10000+ hours.

The original Guild wars was released in April 2005, correct? That means it has been out of almost 7 years.
25,000 hours over 7 years is 3571.43 hours a year, which is 9.78 hours per day. So according to your statement, you have been playing Guild wars on average 10 hours a day for the past 7 years.. And I doubt it is the only game you have played over the last 7 years, so you could be averaging 11-12 hours a day spent playing games..
Perhaps instead of worrying about the Guild Wars 2 beta, you should go outside for a bit. 10 hours a day isn't healthy..
I have seen posts similar to this a few times in this topic now, why do some Guild Wars 1 players think it is their god given right to test GW2 just because they played the original? Arenanet are using beta to refine their game ready for launch, not for rewarding customers of the original guild wars..

Oh i don't know, I maintain that a long time player of gw1 is going to be , on average, more inclined to become a player of gw2, than the amount of inclination someone who never played gw1 will be. Generally speaking.
I disagree just because of how drastically the gameplay has changed. A fan of GW is more likely to look into GW2 than someone else but at the end of the day, the games will play out very differently. If you factor in ArenaNet and MMOs then things change, but considering GW in isolation I'd say you're no more or less likely to get it than anyone else.

I disagree with your disagreement
The majority of people following GW2 on its fansites are players of GW1.
The top reason in 'why are you interested in GW2' polls on those forums is because people have played GW1.
GW2 is attracting a lot of attention from people who never played the first, but the vast majority of its followers since the day it was announced are GW1 fans.
People dont care how much the gameplay has changed, fans of the series will remain fans as long as they still like the changes, and very few if any GW1 fans have disliked any of the changes to GW2. Perhaps the only thing that fans of the first game didnt like is the removal of henchmen / hero teams, but no one actually preferred the instanced gameplay of the first game to the open world gameplay of the second, which is really the most significant change.
So basically you are bitter about the changes being made in GW2?
