Guild Wars 2

How well optimised is the game at the moment.

Its gorgeous to play but feels sticky in places. I guess as its not the final build and weirdly its running all from one file that it should be better on full release?

K yeah I just logged in to check that out - Seems the only countries you can pick from are pacific. Getting onto CJ keys support now - but you're definitely sure people who haven't ordered through CJS aren't seeing that also?

If I open a paypal dispute I'll probably lose my whole GW1 and GW2 account. I've emailed both CJS keys and Guild Wars 2 support about it.

Thats odd because I got my key though CJS and it said I had to change my region when I tried playing on a US server not a EU, it then bugged out so when I clicked EU it said the same, it could be just a bug

On another note, how the hell do I leave PvP?

Ok experience from thief and elementalist both to 10.

Thief feels infinitely better than before, without outrageous latency.

Thiefs burst is much higher than the ele, ele has much greater aoe. I really dislike steal, the shadowstep is also pretty unreliable and will not go through terrain or objects unlike targeted shadowsteps.

Ele staff seems to be pretty solid - fire is packing aoe with meteor shower flame burst and the lava skill I forget. Lightning has some control with gust and the stun field, water has some healing but it was really pathetic. Earth was a mixed bag. DO NOT BUY GLYPH OF LESSER ELEMENTALS. IT SUCKS.

Thief with double daggers is bursty, but really squishy, short bow supplements some aoe ability.

Playing a guardian now, enjoying it. Tried mace/shield sword/shield and staff so far.

Bah, this was the first spell I wanted.

The elementals have pretty horrible pathing, all I've really found a use for it so far is using the earth one as a meat shield, and he still dies in about 3 hits.

One thing im finding pretty daunting is the weapon sets, I've had double dagger + shortbow and ele staff unlocked fully now for a few levels and the thought that this lasts until max isn't great.

Haven't touched the trait system yet though. Will see tomorrow.

Edit - An earlier shot. The thief aesthetic is pretty awesome.

I am now so glad that I didnt make a charr engineer and made a necro instead, charr necros are pure badass :D

Say hello to Morbid Kitten ^^

I'll make an Asura engineer for my fifth character slot, and maybe not bother at all with a sylvarri thief / buying a new slot too early.

Male norns are pure fat and ugly though, I hate my norn guardian :(. I'll just have to delete it and make a female norn instead.

But my norn name is Jorrvaskr Skyforge, and I dont want to lose that and it sounds wrong on a woman norn :x

So frustrating - I never did get on in the end. Went to bed around 9.30 as I had to be at work at 6 this morning.

After failing to get on any GW2 server, I found that GW1 was unavailable also, so I couldn't even take out my frustrations on those booze-hoarding raptors :/

Finally managed to get in for an hours play last night. Dynamic events are quite neat although they are effectively quests and far more obvious than I had thought - ie you still get your mini map arrow and instructions on the screen. It works well but it isn't that far removed from the Npc with an ! Above his head and when you have an Npc you need to talk to he has a * above his head so devs were obviously going todo anything to not have a ! :)
I quite enjoyed the start, it did feel on rails but will have to play more to see how it pans out. Performance for me was ok but any battles were really just a lot of button mashing with not a lot of feedback on what was occurring due to lag. First boss was impressive but again immersion was lost due to lag.

Now need to play more - I cannot see this game being released this year though, feels more at alpha level than beta tbh.

What server was you playing on?, I'm playing on FoE and I've had no real lagg even with something downloading in background (only got 6-7mb connection too)

Overall I'm liking the game, first area event boss I did was a Fire Charr Shaman who was F'ing badass, took loads of us to kill him

It's fine, I'd expect it too from anyone on the GW site listed as a UK retailer. https://buy.guildwars2.com/retailers

CJS isn't on the official retailers list at all, and their site looks dodgy as **** to begin with. :p

Almost all of our games are at least 40 - 50 percent cheaper than the average game retailer!

Because they're obvious grey market imports.

As for the beta, very mixed feelings at the moment. I like it, but it's a bit meh in places. I always saw it as a contender for my time sink for the rest of the year at least, but I'm not so sure now. :(

Maybe it'll be better high level, or once it calms down.
