Guild Wars 2

Performance hasn't changed for me, but my system's GFX is laughable and apart from a few connection drops, the session was remarkably trouble free.

Levelling is slow going, which takes a little getting used to and ranged is still king, especially once all the spell effects and zerging starts kicking off. Some public events were mental, especially against champion mobs. Yet once I'd strayed in to the next Norn zone, it calmed down and some encounters became very entertaining.

Tried a bit of crafting too, but it's not something you can really get too far with on a quick evening session.

I've had to stop playing the betas, dunno if I'll do any more from now on. I want the game to stay fresh and with the style of the game, I'm finding because I'm sticking to the human area, I'm either missing too much and too low level or I'm doing everything and it won't be new when the game comes out.

Since the characters are going to be deleted, it seems a shame to see the game for the first time on them.

I still have the same low <30 fps on medium with the rig in sig. I knowthe game is not optimised yet so I'm not overly concerned.

Graphics performance is still horribly CPU limited.

The wifes PC is sub 30fps most of the time and shes on a Q6700 @ 3GHz + GTX460 1GB... so hardly a slouch. Changing graphics settings makes little to no difference, so she's blatantly being CPU limited, which is rather ridiculous with a 3GHz quad.

Really needs optimising a helluva lot more before launch. There's no reason GW2 shouldn't run perfectly on that spec, she's run far more graphically demanding games perfectly fine.

Hopefully they put an improved client out for the next BWE.

Norn have the best starting area imho, its the most fun out of all 3 i've tried, it's also laid out much better than the others.

Well whatever they did, it seemed to work pretty well. Logged out and back in a number of times and got in instantly every time.

Anyone know if there's a way to turn off the headgear you choose at character creation? There's no way my mesmer is going out in public with that bloody mask on :p

It was the same client as the last BWE. They were testing the servers this time. :)

There were a couple of patches applied to the stress test client. Never know what was in them :D

You can turn it off in your Hero [H] page, think you just right click on your helmet and set it to never show. I did the same on my Char Eng. No way he's walking around with a cowboy hat on :p

has anyone heard if there is news about the overflow system ?

my friend recently pre purchased the game and so we were hoping to group on last nights stress test, however we were both in separate instances the entire time and i could not find a mechanism to go to EG queensdale 34 so it was quite pointless.

I cant imagine this wont be fixed before ship as it renders the whole 'play with your friends' null and void but having said that i actually find it strange it isnt 'fixed' already.

I understand the purpose of it, but not the implementation...

Had exactly the same. And have had every beta event so far. It really does need fixing.

Last night I spent all evening trying to play with my Brother, but we could never get on the same server.

We're both homed on Riverside, but we'd keep getting dumped on overflow servers, but entirely different overflow servers (even though we were partied) so we never saw each other all evening

That really needs fixing before launch. There needs to be a way to switch to whichever server your friends are on, even if its an overflow.

i disagree. the performance has been improved for me and many others. the only issue is on heavy fights where our fps dips to 20 instead of 5/10 like before so definetly an improvement.

i notice in heavy fights, my gpu usage reduces?

Ah, excellent news on the headgear! The grouping up is the only thing that's bugging me now, that and the crippled performance. I think I read that they're looking at the grouping problem though, they'd be burned at the stake if they released without something in place for that.
