next weekend (26/05-27/05) is a bank holiday weekend for Memorial day(28/05) in US so i don't think the beta will be till the weekend after.

I also think it will be the last beta weekend (maybe that should be hope) with head-start starting on 25/06 and actual release been on 28/06.

there is no source for the above it's all speculation and personal opinion and desire.

Doubt memorial day would get in the way considering it happens the next day after the beta "would" end, I'm sure I read "one a month" but yeah, as you said, speculation ;]
 
Yeah, I reckon last weekend in May too. Whatever they did for the Monday night stress test seems to have sorted the login issues, so with a bit of luck we'll see the sylvari or asuran starting area this time around.
 
Cool stuff, might have skipped it but see no mention of performance updates, eagerly awaiting that to see how it'll really run.

Performance is the big one for me. In fact it's pretty much the only one, other than the ability to tone down the effects. Hopefully turning off their debugging software and enabling all the cores is still to come.

Let's hope it's sorted.

Mine is playable at 40-50FPS but its not good enough and frames drop to ~25-35FPS when recording game footage which is just not nice.

2600k at less than 12% utilisation on the 4 cores and GTX680 goes bewteen 20 and 60% usage. 99% usage on the login screen/char selection though! :D :o

Hopefully the engine is good enough, I can play BF3 maxed out at 1920x1200 and record game footage at 30FPS full-size without a single impact on performance. While they are distinctly different games for sure there is something not quite right at the moment.

With that as our goal, the development team is working extremely hard to address your current feedback and prepare Guild Wars 2 for the next Beta Weekend Event. Once they're finished, they'll be ready for you to head back to Tyria for the next phase of testing.

We're going to adhere to a monthly schedule as much as feedback and development allow, so it may be a little more or a little less each time, depending on how things progress. For now, we will have more information on upcoming Beta Weekend Events and stress tests as soon as we're able, and we thank each of you for being an important part of the creation of Guild Wars 2. ~RB2

Most of the optimisation happens in the final stages. The project I'm currently has seen about a 40% performance increase just after beta. We start ripping shaders out, decreasing call counts, combining as much as possible etc in art. You have design optimising and then most importantly code. Not to mention all the debug code running in the build which from my experience makes a large impact.
 
Many of you have been asking about when we will have our second Beta Weekend Event. As we are approaching a long weekend in many parts of the world, we understand that some of you want to make plans for that. To help you with that we can confirm that we will NOT be running BWE2 this coming weekend.

Our BWE1 was super successful, we exceeded our expectations. As some of you might have experienced first hand, this lead to some technical issues. To make sure we are not running into the same situation for BWE2, we recently had a stress test, and we are currently deploying a lot of additional hardware in our datacenters.

We will be able to tell you exactly when BWE2 will take place as soon as all the hardware has been deployed. We are not withholding a date intentionally, we want to make sure that BWE2 will be a really great experience for all of you.

If we're going to get a beta weekend next weekend we should hear about it in the next day or two. I just want a release date at this stage though :(
 
Realistically they'll probably want another stress test before giving a launch date, at least if I had just setup additional hardware I'd want it tested properly too and the best way is an evening of beta testers abusing it!

Guessing it's mostly VM based, can't see how it couldn't be but they won't want the age old problems of lacking server hardware at launch.
 
Bored of playing betas now. I just wanna play the full release so I can progress with my character. Right now though Diablo 3 is keeping me busy so they can take their time with release now. Their lack of updates for their community... I mean paid customers is really **** imo.

Bought myself the DD edition. Registered on GW2 account page. Is it possible to view the beta forums at the moment at all outside of a 'testing' weekend?
