Guild Wars 2

Untrue, you should keep your client up to date as the same client is used for all the beta weekends, you don't need to re-download anything.

Merge this post and the one above please mod, my mistake :)

If you keep running the patcher and updating it though, some files could be updated several times between now and the next test event, meaning potentially download the same file several times. Where as if you wait until just before the beta event, then run the patcher, you will download everything that needs to be updated just once.

Why so? What is so wrong with the game to merit them releasing in September?
BWE3 in July
Release Late August.

Unless something goes seriously wrong during BW3, I can't see it being any later than August, leaving it any longer is a major fail decision as far as marketing goes.

My bet is on release announcement in the next 30 days, release in September/October. Although a lot of the gameplay seems to be quite solid, they still have optimization to do, 2 races to be implemented, more dungeons, more zones, class balancing etc... So there is still plenty for them to do but they seem to have a good gameplay and WvW setup right now so they are on the right track.

They could copy what some other games have done (warhammer and AoC to name just 2) and release with obviously missing content, and add it in within a month or 2 of release, but I think if they want most of the main stuff ingame and working well then september/october is a good bet.

2 races to be implemented?
You do realize the do have a internal team of testers and we will most likely not see the 2 races in the beta's.
Missing content? like what? all we played was the start of the game, we don't have to test it all you know....I'd say the only thing left to do is optimization, class balance and little bits and pieces like UI clean-up.

My take on it, is that they actually have most of the rest of the content already in the game. It's just not in the game currently, so that when the game is released there will still be new things to see and do.

Most of what I've seen is solid, and baring the odd bug is pretty polished. Once they get the optimisation done there won't be much that needs doing apart from bug fixing. Which it appears they are doing.

I know they have internal testing, but unless they specifically say the current state of the internal testing then I'm not going to assume the content is there. Just as a comparison, SWTOR had every race, every planet, and all class stories from 1 to 60 ingame and playable during the beta. Obviously this isn't swtor, but my point is if the content is there and playable you can figure out how close to being done the game is, if the content isn't playable and there is little/no information released about something then it is an 'unknown' and hard to judge the timescale on such things in relation to release dates.

Anyone, everything about release dates is just speculation at this point as nothing official has been announced to my knowledge, so lets just wait and see before debating this any further.

Well head to the guru thread about the release date theory's :P
Yes its all speculation.
But its already been pointed out that releasing any time after August would result in less sales, the hype train is at it's fullest right now with release right around the corner, to not exploit that would be a major phail on NCsoft's part.

I'd rather they kept the Asura and Slyvari starter areas under wrap until launch instead of showing them off during beta, some surprises would be good.

Based on the fact we haven't seen the majority of the game and these is still a heck of a lot of optimizations that need to be done.

Just gotta wait for the next BWE to be announced now. It's well worth it though.

Hope so. Its not a purchase I'm confident about, so we'll see.

Watched all the Yogscast and Totalbiscuit videos, does anyone have any good GW2 videos to watch?
