Guild Wars 2

Well I've caved and just bought the game from the website. Beta should finish downloading over night.

Hoping the final release will use the existing beta download and just add/change that, my downloads speed are atrocious.

That has already been confirmed btw, the beta client will update to the release client.
 
To be honest, I didn't participate in BE2 at all. But creating my little ninja ranger has renewed my belief this is awesome. The WvW is so slick, and the game is looking really polished. Good to jump on immortals mumble too and group up, but we need a bigger group next time!

Was you there when me and Nems where chatting about how **** the server tranfer system works?

basicaly the server the guild is based on called desertation is full and no one else can join it! And because you cant join it you ant play with your guild members in WvW
 
The performance tweaks they have done since the last beta is amazing! By the time it's launched it should be almost perfect.

There will be, always slow at the start in beta, and will be slow again for the first 2 weeks or so once the game is out as everyone wants to do their own thing leveling, even tho I keep saying leveling in a group is more fun:D.

But we will have a lot in the guild come a few weeks down the road most of the old guys will be back + what ever new ones join.

Yes its tad **** now but it will be fixed come launch, they can never keep it like it is as it will split whole guilds.

Some thoughts then. Overall I like the game, I didn't think "wow, this is amazing", at first I wasn't so sure about it at all but it's growing on me.

The graphics are fairly nice most of the time, though in places they can be a bit patchy. Overall though I'm happy with that aspect of it.

The gameplay isn't quite as good as I was expecting, but it's not bad. I suppose this will come into its own when you become better and face better people.

The fact there is no option to duel is massively bizarre and a stupid omission. They need to add that.

Some parts of the UI don't look particularly well finished, and I did encounter a good few quest bugs, among other general combat bugs.

I don't like the whole 'Gem Store' thing, it seems to be mostly useless rubbish, but there's no subscription and as long as they don't start selling advantages, that's fine.

So overall I like it, but it will take some getting used to. Whether it will live up to this ridiculous level of hype remains to be seen. I genuinely think the hype level is going to end up working against it, so it will need to be as flawless as possible.

What you gotta remember though, is that all you would have played is the opening intro areas, where everything is simple and slow.....it isnt that WOW yet....as you get into higher levels and fight some amazing bosses and do dungeons and world pvp etc, it will be much better.

Plus as your char is going to be wiped, its hard to get that sense of journey and fun while leveling, knowing its all a waste of time.

I completely agree. I fully expect it to get even better and I'm not a big fan of beta tests for the reason you gave there. I just can't get into it.
 
Just had a quick blast there before bed and I must say....I am very impressed. Firstly, I thought I was going to have to upgrade my GPU for this game, but so far my 550Ti 1GB seems to be handling it pretty well and I am getting flawless framerates and the game looks very very pretty. Haven't been reading much story though just skipping as I plan on getting it on release so don't want to get bored on retail :D

Looking forward to getting to play again tomorrow!

Will the dungeons be amazing though or bosses (obviously those big ones look cool, but just look spammy.)

I can't imagine very difficult tactics without healers/tanks. Just seems dodge/spam attack for everything is going to be the case.

I'm really really concerned for end game, and this is my last MMO I'm arsed about for a long time so really want it to be good. Well until World of Darkness, that looks sick.
 
For Nvidia SLI users.

There's no profile in the latest drivers.

I've just done some fiddling... "force alternate frame rendering 1" gives no benefit.

"force alternate fream rendering 2" does... was averaging 45fps... now getting 80-85 :)
