Guild Wars 2

The GW2 team are saying the beta keys that they handed out for that final beta test will not work for this upcoming stress test, however they said that last time and the keys worked so I'm hoping they will work again tonight.

EDIT: I was planning on playing a Human ranger on release however the Norn look very cool, might have to try them out if I can get into the stress test.

I was going to play a Asura Mesmer, but we will do a lot of WvWvW, and I will run quite a bit of it, so need a toon that I can stay back and watch whats hapening.

(my excuse :p)

thanks for the heads up on that :)

Not really read much on the game, but am i correct in that theres no healing class? Ive always played a healing class as far back as DAoC lol.

Ice/water (can't remember which it is called) specced Ele with a staff then with the right chosen higher level talents can do a lot of healing. Surprised me how much and other class has near as much (except perhaps guardian)

Missing this stress test as well  in Scotland again for work

Does the game run pretty well out of interest?

Hoping i'd be able to run it with nice graphics and frames.

Very badly - but the consensus seems to be it'll be optimised before release.

At 1920x1080 - I was getting 45fps by default & 80fps with a custom sli profile.

I have a really old machine (except my graphics card which is a new card, but only a mid range one), C2D @ 2GHz, 2GB DDR2 and a HD6850 with a res of 1280x1024 (max my CRT can handle). In PvE there isn't any issues, maybe a little stutter now and then but nothing I can't put up with. WvW can get quite bad and not always properly playable but it's better than ilum in SWTOR by far.

Very badly for you maybe, had a steady 60fps myself with everything maxed at 2560x1440. That's on a single 6950 @ 6970 specs.

By the looks of it though in nvidia cards in general that have poor performance, could be a lack of driver optimisation which in most cases will be out of arenanet's hands.

In the starter area maybe. What about in WvWvW or large open areas? Performance is better now that it was in early BWE but it's far from perfect.

Input lag on free-look is still terrible.

WvW I had a fairly consistant 30+ FPS during heavy action which is more than playable.

Playable (Just), but crap.

Anything sub 50-60 is naff as far as I am concerned, fluidity goes out the window below those kinds of values. Trying to use the cursor for any kind of targeting or skill usage at low FPS is a FML affair! :(

Modern MMO's are so vastly more complex than the likes of previous ones that expecting high frame rates on current hardware is just unrealistic.

I have an I7 IB @ 4.6Ghz with 16Gb Samsung Green, @ 2400Mhz not many systems are faster, I doubt I could get 60+ fps in heavy wvw action even with a 7990! unless I lower the graphical quality a lot.

If played at lower settings I could get a consistant 60+ fps no matter but then the game doesn't look pretty :)

They are no more complex than older MMOs to be honest. It's only the engine itself that is more complex in terms of graphical grunt required.

Additionally, in the early BWE the optimisation WAS terrible, I could not even get 40% GPU usage. It's better now but I hope, for the sake of everyone that more optimisation/tweaks are due.

The engine should still be properly scalable. If I want to sacrifice shiny for frames in WvW I should be able to. In a medium demand area right now I can hold 70-80 FPS with a medium-ultra configuration (Shadows/Post effects and AA at medium/low) but it will get choppy in WvWvW no doubt.
