Guild Wars 2

Max out GPU usage now, MMO's have always been CPU intensive and often limited.

Lowering shadow quality just a couple notches can increase frame rates quiet significantly, as it obviously free's up loads of cpu cycles for other tasks.

It was absolutely nothing to do with relative CPU intensity.

BWE 1 and 2 used 40% GPU and LESS than 20% CPU on a 4.5GHz 2600k.

The guy asking has a MBP which other than the terrible 650m nvidia card is up to scratch. It'll probably tank on a 650m though because it's not really a gaming chip plus it's a mac so the game won't be half as fluid and optimised.

Just about dodged the hype for GW2, but been totally caught up in it over the last few days.

GMG discount code, early access and some more beta access swung it for me: purchase, registered and ready!!

Can't wait to get started. Now... what to play as?!

All the people with low FPS were those with Nvidia cards that didn't realise the bugs Nvidia cards had with the last BWE there were some fixes but I guess most didn't read up on the low FPS to know it was an Nvidia problem.

The game runs fantastically well. Do not take the word of anyone with an Nvidia card in the last beta weekend unless they know about the issues the cards had and applied the fixes.

Anyone with ATI will attest to how well the game runs and anyone on Nvidia will complain. :)

I will be running it on a 3ghz i5 processor, 550Ti 1GB, and 8 gigs of ram. During BWE3 it ran good, looked nice and was getting decent frame rates and didn't get any visible FPS dips even in battlegrounds - well, not to me anyway.

I never had any problems with my gtx580.

Not everyone was effected. Seemed to be related to some specific graphics settings and certain driver combinations. Also you may have been effected but not drastically, which means the release version may give you an even more satisfactory performance boost! :)

Rather than post useless non-information how about you actually link something to help those who were affected?

It was all over the support forum which is now closed. I posted the fixes in this thread a couple of times during the beta weekend and several people used them with success.

Well that's just dandy.

Absolutely nothing comes up on Google, irrespective of the support forum being closed it would be elsewhere. That is if it was such a prevalent issue and not some random, once in a blue moon config tweak that "sort of looked like it might help"

I heard people are fixing fps slowdowns on nvidia cards by going into nvidia control panel and changing:

3D settings -> Adjust image settings with preview - Changing the slider to balanced (the middle notch) and turning off 'Let the 3D application decide'.

3D settings -> Manage 3D settings -> Anti-aliasing mode - Change this to 'Application controlled'

Also apparently the current nvidia drivers have an issue effecting GW2 so go here http://www.geforce.com/drivers/beta-legacy and get the latest 304.79 drivers and do a clean install of them by clicking advanced install options during install and checking 'clean install' box. Hope it helps! :)

Thanks for this, this worked :D deffo pre-ordering now.

Would I be able to join this Immortals guild when the game releases? Do I need to apply?

From this forum during BWE3, why would people be posting about technical issues outside of the support forum?

Rather then being condescending how about being nice?

Do you not know how the internet works?

With regards to using the "Adjust image settings with preview" in the nVidia Cpanel - Nobody who knows what they are doing EVER uses "Let the 3D Application Decide" as a global setting and ignoring all user selected 3D Settings.

Specifically what settings caused issues might be useful, using a global "Balanced" option without knowing what it changes is pretty lame.

I had massive FPS problems with my GTX670 too, I applied the fixes I found on the support forum in a thread made by GW2 developers and boom FPS went from 30-40 to 100+.

Hint - Technical Problems with Game X do not solely reside on the forums for Game X.

Exactly! In which case I would put it to you that the problem lies with your googlefu skills as you failed to even find people posting the problem and the solution in this very thread, if you can't find it here where you have posted 14000+ posts how are you meant to find it in the big bad world wide web?
