Bugger if they are up at 5, might go alkali nighter tomorrow and sleep Friday at 7 pm up for 5. Must get my name
the login servers will probably be hammered for an hour anyway so i might not bother getting up until 6
well once the game goes live (sometime between 5am to 8am UK time on Saturday for pre-purchase people) you can start making your characters. Once you've made a character with the name you want, it's yours
The best way to get the names you want (if you want to make sure no one else gets them first) is to skip the character design and just pick race, class then skip to end and enter your name. Once you have a character with the name you want, you can delete it and that name will be reserved for 24 hours for you only, allowing you to create the character the way you want it without fear of the name being taken while you play with the look of your character.
Excellent, here I was thinking I'd have to rush the toon creation.

What class/race will you be rolling and why?
Necromancer + Asura, loved necro in GW1 and the Asura look like great fun
Human warrior. I actually like the melee combat and have always preferred it. As for being human, I think they look the best and I want to create a character like my old guild wars 1 main (human warrior)
Currently main will be a human ele to follow on from my gw1 toon, with my alt being a asura engineer. Really enjoyed the engineer during the beta, and it suits the Asura.
However ask me again in an hour and I'll probabley have a complety different answer.

Asura Thief - 3 reasons:
1.) They're cute until they've stuck a dagger in your back
2.) Their starting area looks the most interesting to me
3.) Felicia Day voices a character in the starting story

Yeah I know what you mean. I've changed my mind about 100 times.
Too many good classes, I want to make an engineer, elementalist, mesmer, guardian and thief.
The thing is I only want to play two races - asura and sylvari. Don't particularly like the others: Norn - too reminiscent of skyrim, charr - and people say the asura are ugly, human - well I'm tempted to but there's enough humans and it's fun to play an "alien" only for once!
Got some cracking names lined up, hopefully I'll be able to bag them quickly.

engineer sounds like a bit of a pvp camper ill go with that for starters

Pool? I'll join in, we could probably manage a puddle as I've not researched anything about it except a few brief looks in here.

XD I can't remember my original GW characters name, I only bought the first expansion and didn't play it much.
Oh well I haven't played an MMO in quite a while (I SoR'd on WoW earlier this month and gave up on the day) so I hope this can keep my interest.
yea me to but I wouldn't consider GW to be one and I doubt gw2 is a full fledged mmo either?
is the normal leveling world for pve still just for you and your party?
I don't think so but I may be wrong.
Dynamic Events I know involve other people but I'm unsure if they're instanced in some way.
GW2 is as full fledged an MMO as any other.
It's no longer you and your party but lots of other people.
The open world is one instance, if it fills up then you are moved to an overflow instance and queued for the 'real' instance until space becomes available.
GW2 is far more MMO than GW1 but it's not FULL ON MMO either. It's very much a hybrid taking bits and bobs from loads of different areas. Hopefully it works. Personally I feel most endgame will be PvP content for me, PvE does not seem to be able to offer much in the endgame.
