Guild Wars 2

Booted.

Ashamed to say I'm currently levelling a Sylvari Guardian, despite the fact I've already got a 29 Human one... :o She also looks a bit like an Ultramarine. :D

I may have to ditch the human one as the other three slots are filled with interesting and varied characters...

So what classes are you all playing now and what are your thoughts?

I have a 42 guardian, 34ish engineer and a 16 warrior.

Warrior seems pretty stronk, probably gonna be a good choice for PvP. Damage seems good and can be very tanky. I don't see them being as strong in PvE though because they seem very "every man for himself" which isn't so helpful when everyones taking damage.

Engineer is fun, very versatile. I don't like the weapon skills so much or the kits, but it takes some thought to make sure you have the right skill set going into fights. Very capable of taking down hard targets solo despite being squishy. They also seem like they'll be great in PvE because you can go all out damage or you can be very supporty (either agressively with debuffs for enemies or taking a healing kit).

Guardians seem like they're going to be very strong in PvE because their AoE tanking buffs people so strongly. I did AC yesterday and was surprised how much of a breeze it was (after struggling in there on my engineer) just because I was mace and shield AoE supporting allies, people took very little damage. I also was very tanky individually, tanking one of the lovers bosses solo (while my team took down the other) was a walk in the park. I don't know how strong they'll be in PvP yet, I suspect weaker than PvE because there's less times you'll be grouped up and their DPS isn't too strong, but I've not tried a damage build yet, so I might just be underestimating how much damage they can output with the right build or done much PvP at all so might not realise how often there's large team fights (talking proper PvP not WvWvW here).

Got kicked out and now I'm getting this

You got a link to your guardian build? Ive just hit 40 so have got a free trait reset and I'm thinking of changing my build for a more tanky one. I am currently a condition/spirit weapon build but find the spirit weapons a bit annoying to activate mid fight and would prefer something more passive.

EDIT* I can get into trading for the first time! sort of...

My main is a Human Ranger, and having fun ... PvE is easy solo ( post lvl 20 those polar bears can take on almost anything - in fact I could go away and make dinner, come back and find it's completed all the hearts in a zone for me ;) ). Not quite so good for support in groups, and ranged damage is always a nice commodity to have in PvP - allows for easier judgement on when to join the fray or back off.

Mucking around with a Sylvari Elementalist at the moment. Tried that in beta and enjoyed it. Personally, I find Elementalist damage a little bit on the low side given how squishy they are, but their AoE abilities make doing dynamic events and supporting groups a breeze. I do like my "wizard" type classes ... and Elementalist was the obvious choice for me, especially given I'm a little bit sceptical regards the Mesmer mechanics.

My third character is a Norn Warrior .... haven't played him so much as I played one extensively in beta. And, they are by FAR the most overpowered profession in my opinion. Don't really have a weakness, and can do solo PvE, group PvE and PvP equally well. I can see ArenaNet taming them down in the near future ( perhaps a reduction in ranged ability to force them into being a melee specialist ? ).

Dabbled with Guardian in beta too , haven't made one since the game has gone live. I do like their versatility, but my one gripe was lack of ranged abilities ( in principle, I don't want melee classes to have a strong ranged attack ... but hey, since everyone else does why not a Guardian too ? ).

One thing I don't get about storage for crafting materials is, do I place them all in the collectibles tab or my bank storage? The bank storage is limited while the collectibles has dedicated slots for each item which is great. However when it comes to crafting or discovering, do I have to keep withdrawing it from collectibles or can I just leave them there stacked up?

So far, I'm not able to craft or discover anything without first withdrawing all the materials I need from collectibles into my personal storage, which is a hassle and when I'm done, I have to then deposit it all back so my bags aren't full.

Maybe I'm doing it wrong? In WoW, it had the same idea but at least I could have both the profession and bank storage panes up so I could view them side by side and see what I need to withdraw specifically.

Is there a way around the bug that says "You are not in a guild" when you try to talk in the guild, and doesn't allow you to even see guild chat? Or is everybody getting it?

Dumped my Elementalist at 48 and currently playing a Guardian. Other than the gimmicky burst that the Ele has with Dagger/Dagger it just feels like every single other class is better. It seems like a decent character for PvE but for PvP a bit pointless.

There's a button in the top right corner of your bag (a cog) that allows you to deposit all collectibles at once. And once you're more used to crafting you'll know which ones to withdraw when you need them.

Also remember you can access your bank and collectibles tab from any crafting station.

Not once have I been able to access trading since I've started it's always "down for maintenance". Has anyone else had this problem?

I had the Trading Post last Saturday and then it stopped working..

Fot me it started working again about 0300 this morning and was still working this morning.. I assume its working for some other people as I sold everything I put on there.

This is the email I received this morning

"Someone -hopefully you!"

but no link to say no. Considering their experience with mmo's I am shocked at this level of apathy towards their customers account security. I can only assume it's because they don't use a subscription model they are not bothered about continuous monthly subs.

I just want to play again.

I just got one this morning too, I don't have GW2 and not accessed my GW1 account for years, made a support ticket on their website.
