Guitar players looking for a quality all solid wood acoustic cheap

I saw Jeff Healey not long before he passed and he was still playing that SQuire Strat he so loved. Mattered not though the sound he got out of it.

Electrics are a different beast. Pickups and amplification largely dictate the sound

Acoustics though are less forgiving.

I went to watch a SRV tribute band and the guy played a Squier Strat but had two proper SRV Strats on stage. He played all the way through with it and broke a string on the last song. Encore time so instead of picking up one of the SRV Strats he changed the string on the Squier and carried on. Later on he told me he paid £30 for the Squier and nothing else came close.

Maybe so but if you think you can make a Squire Strat sound that good then slap a youtube video on here and I'll eat me words, apologise and change my sig to profess your genius.

@ Dimple - which SRV tribute wish I'd have kept my eyes open I'd have gone and seen that. Another of my favourites.

Crossfire.
I think they were from Manchester way.

My lead guitarist and drummer were in a SRV tribute called Testify - https://myspace.com/testifysrvtribute/music/songs

Not bad Dimple not bad. I've never really bothered with tribute bands maybe I should. Maybe I could start a Santana one - any idea where's the best place to advertise for 429 percussionists.

.

How are judging the sound? Clean, dirty? what? There are loads of youtube videos comparing the squire with the standard

Was the sound of the band compromised?

No the sound he was making with the squire was it any good?

It was bang on SRV but he reckoned his SRV Strats didn't sound as good.

On the link above I gave for my lead guitarists SRV tribute band he actually built the guitar himself with plans & specs of SRV's guitar.
