Just tried this fantastic prog last night, it has solved all my recording woes:)

Now I'm wondering if there are any sites where users can up/download their patches to have a mess around with.

I've had a quick google but can't find anything, at work at the minute so can't spend too much time looking.

I personally prefer to use guitar tracks pro 3 and use amplitube 2 vst with it :)

apparently presets are available to customers as a download from there website

Yeah, there are a few on there but nothing startling.

What are the benefits of Guitar pro/Amplitube? I may look into a few more of these things if it's worth it, very handy for recording.

I've read a few reports about problems with Guitar Rig but the only issue I've come across is an strange noise when changing the volume on the guitar, this happens with all my guitars so it seems a software thing, I've even got it down to 5ms latency on an Audigy2 which is great (although may be the cause of the noise). I do my actual recording on a Tascam 788 digital portastudio so my PC is merely generating the sounds, maybe the issues arise while audio recording on a PC. Either way, I'm impressed by the way it sounds, I was very dubious at first.

I used GR2 for all my home recording stuff, can't get enough of it.

I started off thinking it sounded a bit pants when i downloaded the demo but i discovered that the key was to make patches in stereo. ie a separate amp+speaker/s for L/R, phattens it up loads if you tweak the settings so each channel is slightly different (mics, level, mic distance etc).

never used the pedal as i bought the software without it and run my guitar into my 1010lt direct. I use it mainly as a plugin in Cubase so i can play to various tracks i've made. Always been rock solid for me, even on my AMD 2600+ pos.

amplitube 2 sounds better :)

the whammy on guitar rig 2 is the only reason I use it - better than the harmonizer on amplitube 2

and guitar tracks is a guitar orientated recording program, with 32 different tracks iirc

Good answer :)

Not really gone into that much depth yet, I've only played around for an hour or so and it sounded fine as it is, I'll give your method a try when I get round to it, cheers :)

I guess I'm currently so impressed because everytime someone mentioned amp modelling on a PC it sent shivers down my spine but it's so simple and sounds far beyond what I had expected :)

This is my general guitar sound i work with on GR2.

Here

A bit of a hendrixy jam thing. there's a bit of 'univibe' effect on the whole thing, which is virtually unnoticeable but gives a nice edge..

I'd be interested to hear some peoples amplitube 2 patches. i had version 1 but i hated it :P..

Edit.. the wah is a Budda Bud wah.. but the GR2 wahs aint too bad.

ill try and get some amplitube 2 stuff up in a few days, off out for an all nighter now, and youll have to excuse the poor playing :p

but I suck :(

Hey, you'll be Hendrix next to me :D

Any tones you like, I'm a blues fan so no uber shredding nonesense.

iirc from a previous thread our taste in albums was quite different, if I think you're crap it's probably just because I don't "get" your style :)

edit- METAL PLEASE (just read the whole post)

I like a lot of music - hendrix :) - allough not the easiest thing in the world hehe

ill do a few different bits and bobs :) - allough im off to pictures now hehe :p

I promise ill do some when I get in.

Iv'e recorded erm, something lol - im not posting it up here, I'm ashamed :(

msn? its got some bluesy stuff in there, some lead over some 12 bar, but I cranked the tube screamer a bit far and sounds more like rock then blues.

Oh go on, I'll record something later on if it helps.

I have the soul, attitude and pretty much the equipment of a rock/blues legend....all I need to do now is convince my fingers :)

God thats so bad :( i'd only had a bit of brandy and I can't even keep in time haha

apoligies for dead notes, bad mixing, and the worst pedal note run Iv'e ever done, I think half the notes are dead lol, each part was 1 take though, Iv'e been playing just under 2 years.

oh yeah, the guitar is a chinese made squier strat, ran with an adapter straight into the mic in, on my onboard audio. which explains the quality of the recording. recorded with guitar tracks pro 3, and amplitube 2 vst.
