Gumtree and Marketplace are both a guaranteed way to attract the absolute dregs of society!

I gave away a washer and drier (2 separate machines) on gumtree a few years ago, someone asked me to deliver them . In the end somebody got both into a zafira which I think is quite an achievement.

It is the absolute dregs. I remember selling some wardrobes and a guy offered me a tenner for them. I'd rather set stick them on a bonfire and watch them burn to nothing than give them to you for a tenner.

Stick on the advert that anyone who is cheeky and offers a lot less for them will be blocked straight away. Also add any scams they will be blocked also.

That cuts down on messages.

OP why not sell via Ebay? Yes it's not perfect but it's better than Bumtree.

I agree with trying on eBay. Also, use one of those 80%-off-seller's-fee offers that crop up every month, so that you pay less commission on the sale.

OP why not sell via Ebay? Yes it's not perfect but it's better than Bumtree.
