I got back from Vegas on Saturday (had an awesome time) and while I was there I went to a shooting range (went there 3 times lol).

I thought you'd only get to fire a pistol but I was suprised to see all the machine guns there that you could shoot, I ended up firing an M16, MP5, 12 Gauge Shotgun, BAR 10, Beretta Assault Rifle (not sure the model name), .308 Sniper Rifle and a Desert Eagle (huge kick on this thing :D ) and an M249 Machine Gun (******* crazy gun). My mate who was with me also fired an Uzi.

Here's a video of all the guns except the BAR10, Uzi and Sniper Rifle. If you ever get a chance to do something like this do it!

I'll have a proper Vegas video ready in a couple of weeks for your enjoyment :D

No they ain't:rolleyes:One of the worst inventions to come out of a mans mind, ever. Yes I've fired lots and think some are beautiful but I still don't appreciate the social consequences.
I wasn't making social commentary about the relative excellence of firearms. I was mocking Sirrel Squirrel's statement regarding pornography that stands as his most quotable on this forum.

Oh man. I really envy you. I'm a massive firearms enthusiast (as you can see from my contributions to the "gun control" thread over in the speakers subforum) and you've really got me in the mood for a wee trip to Vegas. I'm a member of a rifle club. Our rifle range is much longer than the one in the video, but we're restricted to "smallbore" rifles. :(

I'd love the chance to shoot full auto. That M4 has my name written all over it (actually, I think it's actually an NFA registered M16A1 lower reciever with an M4 upper reciever, rather than a "true" M4, but still! )

PS: You're certianly not a bad shot, especially if this was your first time. You seem to be ok with pistols, but your shotgun skills were...questionable.

Looks like fun - wouldn't like to have to use them out of that kind of scenario but would be cool after playing lots of counterstrike to see what it felt like to shoot a gun rather than click a mouse!

The Desert Eagle looked like it had a hell of a kick!

You mean gun clubs are a means of socialising and having fun? Picking up a gun doesn't make you a killer or anti-social.

Those that owned guns were responsible people, such as armed services, policeforce etc. I guess you don't trust these people with guns....oops:rolleyes:

The social consequences? Before gunpowder based weapons came of age, the ultimate weapon was Feudal noble cavalry. People who mastered noble cavalry in war also became the masters of domestic politics. As such, they could screw over the local citizenry without fear of retaliation. In Feudal Japan, the Samurai could even kill any citizen who disrespected them.

Gunpowder changed all that! With the invention of guns, a peasant with minimal training could kill a well-trained Knight. Citizen and Lord achieved parity on both the battlefield and the domestic political arena. One might say that gunpowder and firearms helped give rise to modern democracy as we know it. Why do you think the Samurai tried their level best to keep guns out of Japan?

Gun control is -by and large- a failed experiment in social engineering.

Urr I'm not saying that, I'm saying they should have not been invented in the first place. Your second point somes up why I dislike them so, cos they were with responsible people but not so anymore. As for getting a thrill, no point shooting one unless it's at something for which it was designed in the first place, if not, get your thrills elsewhere. And how can something with such an evil purpose ever be "fun"?

We should stick to swords and pens.
