Personally, I find hunting to be extremely boring. However, it might be worth checking to see if there is a target-shooting club in your area.

What about target pistols and rifles? Their sole engineered purpose is to shoot targets. Ditto for target shotguns. Is poking holes in paper from a great distance an "evil purpose?" I think everybody needs to chill out a bit.
I agree with BlairH about hunting. In my experience it's just sitting in a tree and freezing your butt off at 4 AM for no good purpose.
Dude, check out the "gun control" thread over on speakers. I've already exchanged words with a certian anti-gun person who was willfully ignorant of firearms in the sporting context.
How can something be fun? Well, in my experience, something is either fun or it isn't. I'm a target-shooter. I think it's fun. Ergo, target-shooting is fun. I appreciate that it's subjective though, and that what is fun for me, may not be fun for you.

Oh dear. So I guess you think archery is wrong too? And perhaps building Trebuchets? Or driving a tank? Ever been in a plane, best not to go in them as such things as warplanes. Or ships. Best not to drive a car unless you're power sliding at 100 mph either. All sports car owners must drive no slower than 100mph. Using a gun at paper target's isn't psycopathic, and it's a fun day out.
You know, I'm getting a feeling of what Muslims feel like. A whole lot of ignorence from others who have no clue whatsoever, but lots of wild acusations, assumptions and have baked "opinions"

exactly. id rather be shot in the face and put out my misery, than have my head severed off with a rusty sword/axe weapon. if i were ever to come across that situation lol.
I'm not a serviceman or a law enforcement officer, but I'm still an extremely responsible individual. I handle firearms with an extreme degree of respect. I was raised to be responsible for my actions, and it's something that I'm extremely proud of, and I don't see why we, the responsible citizens, should be punished for the actions of a small, criminal minority.
Man I'm not against target practice one bit, we did a lot of .22 and clay pigeon shooting at school, not to mention the countless hours I've spent back in my parents homeland with pistols, shotguns, AK-47s and I enjoy(ed) it a lot. It's just a touchy thing cos one of my relatives was shot....

Bows and arrows were invented to hunt animals, not kill each other. Just cos my opinion that any war machine is wrong doesn't mean I'm ignoring it. Just like most things in life, cars, skyscrapers etc, I only appreciate from an scientific and engineering aspect but not a social one. I prefer my FPS more adventuras then pointless shooting
When I meant irresponsible I wasn't actually talking about servicemen sorry, I meant citizens, ie the ones that don't use for specidic target practice.
I am far from an Emo thank you very much, I just never had the urged to go out and fire at a bloody bird or a paper target,

Well the laws on gun control are strict and going to a gun club I presume they are in doors, its just not my ideal of a good time firing at Bin Laden tragets.
Guns where designed to kill humans, so atleast use them to do that and dont be such a women.

Were you around 40,000 years ago? I think not- how would you know what the first man used it for? Of course humans used bow and arrow to kill each other. And even if was invented to kill animals, it progressed into warfare.
