possible that the car was stolen and then driven round by the thief without insurance.

Surely then it would have been returned to it's owner? Of course the insurance may have already paid out....

I know there are a few lads around here without insurance or even licenses driving really nice cars. Such as TT's, E46 M3's loads of X5's as they are scally uniform around here and even one with an Escalade with 22inch wheels which has been taken off him and given back twice for some reason. They all seem to get away with it and I pay £1500 a year insurance on a alfa 156.
Although a few months ago I heard of one lad who had a 156 GTA taken off him by the police as it was a ringer and apparently crushed :(

Isn't there a clause of "if you have £500k stashed away in a bank account, you don't have to buy insurance"?

yeh its something like you have to leave it in a bond registered with the DVLA or something

lol im not jealous mate. Dont get me wrong I know a lot of these people from school and things and I would love some of their cars. I am also of the school of thought where I would rather not be in jail by the time im 25 for trafficking like a few of these could be.

I got stopped yesterday afternoon by a police spot check point, there was a camera van at the front looking for non taxed cars and then they pulled people at random to see if anyone had been drinking (in the last eight hours!)

I've been searching on this and it seems that you can do it as a company, but not privately?
Could be wrong though.

Isn't it the case that if I have a crash with someone who has no insurance then it goes onto MY insurance?

If so, would a crash with such a car mean I would have to put a Porsche crash on my insurance - if that is the case then I think I support confiscation

I don't know tbh, but i thought that if you had a crash with someone uninsured then you can't claim against them so you have to claim via the MIB? (Motor Insurers Bureau)
