How is it the exception, You've been able to buy games digitally since 2006 on PS3 when it launched, nearly as long as steam. The exception not the norm, so it's not really relevant.
You can still buy PC games on disc in the stores so how is it an exception on console but not on PC?
People have been crowing about how PC is more powerful, but when I pick hardware that is more powerful then it's not a typical case?Again not the typical case, hence "exotic".
How is it?That's a complete exaggeration.
Each game has its own set of servers, its own method of voice chat, its own party system, its own method of patching and downloading dependant on which of three or more services it is on.
To get the same kind of experience as console you'd have to run a third party voice chat program if the game you play isn't on steam, you wouldn't be able to party up across services or games, you'd have to run the launcher of whatever service the game is on, you'd have to run MSI afterburner if you wanted to capture video or screenshots, you'd have to run some kind of broadcasting system if you wanted to stream to twitch.
I can have all that with the press of the PS Button and my game wont crash because I have alt tabbed to access web browser or something else.
