[H]ardOCP: GeForce Partner Program Impacts Consumer Choice

Wonder if Jen enters a meeting with the likes of Asus to the imperial March and the first line out of his mouth is I am your father. Nvidia really has got all these companies by the balls so they really have no option but to sign on the dotted line.

Yep, all tech sites jump on it, so they all have traffic.
The level of denial from you whenever it comes to nVidia doing underhanded things is unreal.

Interestingly though, you tend to blame AMD at the earliest opportunity.

How much are you being compensated for this behaviour?

This very forum logs your IP is that spying too ?

Not sure if you understand how it works, that's apples and oranges.

Nvidia telemetry, error reporting and data collection is now being done in real-time.

Even if you opt out in Geforce experience, it does not actually turn off.

Even if you don't install Geforce experience it is still there.

"All the articles online detailing how to disable it are incomplete. At most they detail the following:

Nvidia Control Panel > Help > untick "Allow Experience Improvement Program"
Stopping & Disabling the NvTelemetry service
Using the Autoruns (by sysinternals) program to stop any related scheduled tasks

However, even all three of these don't stop it."

You have no say in them collecting your data, and no easy way to stop it. That is the definition of spyware imho.

If you don't mind that's fine. But I don't want this, and that's my opinion, each to their own xD

Denial?

When did I blame AMD?

Why on earth would I be compensated?

I haven't said or done anything that comes across the way you are painting it but you seem to be wrapped up in placing people in whatever realm you see fit. If it wasn't so daft, it would be funny!

AdoredTV absolutely ripping into the tech press at the end of his latest video in a massive rant at how bad, how puny and how afraid they are of upsetting nvidia (and to be honest every other big company keeping them in clicks)

..and he is absolutely right.

That's the upshot of not getting sampled much anyway, you've less to lose :p

Well your prob right there, however it also does explain why many of the tech sites - and most of the youtube ones - tend to .... well kiss the ass of certain companies.
I bet Hardocp wont see a new nvidia card on release again .. er ever :p

The guys in NA that handle that side of things aren't going to be bothered by that. Won't have an impact on what board partners sample them. If anything it will probably help lol.

How do you know that? if the board partners are part of Nvidias little "club" they might be under strict orders just to sample the sites that tow the line.

Heck nvidia will be writing the reviews next :p

Fair enough, i respect your opinion on that ... but to me it most certainly is iffy at least.
We have no idea where this could go, nvidia wants control over vendors and is already working towards control over the press.. time will tell but it aint looking good.

if i were an aib i wouldnt associate radeon with my premium brand.. i would rather start a new range with a different brand identity.
got my first pair of radeons - pretty sure the software maturity is so bad that the hardware doesnt make sense for people with little time on their hands.
the hassles with stability, incompatibility and even simple functionality like uninstalling/reinstalling drivers clearly indicates that radeons should be exclusively targeted at teenagers.. the working class should look at geforce.. thats until intel comes with a nvidia killer

Different brand names for top tier AMD and NVidia cards.

Asus have been doing it for years with their Mars and Ares cards.

Mars and Ares are both ROG cards. it looks like nvidia want ROG itself and would be fine for asus to spend the money building another brand themselves.....as long as it's not gaming orientated. That's the impression, anyway - we dont have enough information.

I agree we dont know all the facts yet. I still dont believe asus will be able to sell ROG stuff only if its Nvidia based as that would rule out a ton of products not just GPU's
