H-Brace fitted

theres something about that pic, specifically the bolt on the left, that makes it look really chopped... so i don't believe it till its got bread all over it ;-)

still thats a bargain, its funny how expensive strut top braces are in comparison - guess its cause they get much more ricer attention and look shiney

I had one on my civic coupe until one day driving about a ton down hill with a few slights bumps the front suspension bottomed out and the H-Brace dug into the road and the front end washed out!

I pooped myself then removed the now quite scobbed brace and sold it.

its Jedi Fraggers old car

iirc didnt he bring it to one of the meets and give some people a ride in it ?

That is the most photoshopped looking real pic I think I've ever seen.

I think its mostly where the flash has cast a slight shadow, and the sheer newness against the..... more mature bits.

Championship white has a habit of looking mismatched in pics, it's an 'off white' and looks like that under certain light and angles. There's no mismatch when you look at it in the flesh.

The brace has made a noticeable difference, steering is sharper, and turn-in is improved with the front feeling more responsive and eager to change direction. It's awesome

That's exactly what I thought when I first looked at the pic. Weird

Bonnet looks good in those pictures, whats up with it?

The bonnet looks good in those pics because they were taken when it was new, its faded and scratched now :(

cool stuff. you got your cams sorted out yet?

It'll be getting the cams tuned along with mapping in about two or three weeks time.

Strut braces to me just reek of "OK I admit the original chassis wasn't designed to be stiff enough" :( :D

Which is true for the most part with most cars on the road today, even performance cars.

Otherwise we would all have seam welded, monocoque chassis' (Tim need not reply with a smug comment here :D )

Most of them are more decorative than functional IMO. Anything with a bend in it is compromised in it's function to start with.

What would be the point of a decorative item slung underneath the front end where nobody will ever see it?

I see where you are coming from WRT the bends, but trust me, I have noticed a difference, as have others who have fitted them too :)

Oh I agree. But don't agree about the performance cars bit. You don't see Lambo's, Aston DB9's and Lotus' etc with strut braces do you? :p There is nothing to brace... and they don't have some turbo nutter carbon fibre structure - it's just glued alumnium in the shape of a bath tub :p

Accept for the fact these cars weight close to two tonnes more often than not.

I think we've crossed wires a bit here, by performance cars I meant consumer based cars such as hot hatches, saloons for the main consumer market. Even Scoobies evo's etc.

Lambo's, Astons etc I class as supercars - semantics are the bain of society :)

Not strictly true, many Aston Martins such as the DB9, DBS, Vantage and Rapide Concept all appear to have various types of chassis bracing, including strut braces:

I'm not certain, but I believe with Mid/Rear engine layout cars, it's easier to hide the bracing at the rear into the bulkheads, hell even Nissan didn't do too bad a job of hiding the rear strut brace on the 350Z!

Its all very well building a rigid chassis, but even the most expensive race/rally cars have extensive bracing, those rollcages don't just protect the drivers!

Quite a few production cars have braces, my old MR2 did and even the Octavia VRS has braces on the rear suspension which are mounted inside the car.

Drexel, I was really referring to the upper braces with a small diameter tube that weave themselves around numerous components in the engine bay.
