Had an Xbone, then a PS4, keeping the Xbone

Killzone is a showcase for great graphics do not make a great game :)

I agree with that. It looks incredible but it's quite boring to play.

How do I figure out which console to go for?

I have no reason to chose an Xbox One over the PS4 or chose a PS4 over the Xbox one...

easy pick which one has the games you want to play :D

And I agree with that. Apart from TitanFall the X1 hasn't shown me any games I want for it.

Not had any online connection problems with my ps4 yet , online seems much better than ps3.

Just wish some good games were out , getting very bored with the current games

Snap, not had any issues playing on the PS4 online. So far a very enjoyable experience :)

You played Assassins Creed 4 yet? Just spend your days sailing around as a pirate...ARRRR :D

Freaking loving the PS4, PC has barely been played since I got it.

What the hell is this pathetic link of having two consoles relates to how affluent you are? If anything it screams the opposite.

Awesome, the additional power of the PS4 should add some great gameplay elements due to the abundance of compute available.

Glad I paid less for all that extra potential gameplay.

Seriously, the "gameplay" argument is very weak. If you value gameplay you go for the more powerful machine as it potentially can enable more AI, physics, graphics, sound, etc etc.

My 3DS and Wii U are heavily nullifying that. Absolutely no relationship between what you just quoted and "gameplay".
Mobile games seem to be doing fine without advanced AI and other Hollywood effects.

Yeah AC4 is very good, bit repetitive but that's to be expected with the AC franchise.

I enjoyed games on my ZX Spectrum too, not sure what your point is.

I don't think you know what point you're trying to make either. You said if you value gameplay you go for the more powerful console. So by that 'logic' I should enjoy games on PS4 more than a less powerful console because it can have more physics and stuff.
Please explain how what you stated equates to better gameplay, I eagerly await your response.

For a start thanks to new tech like Huma, when you blow up a theoretical brick wall and it explodes brick by brick in a nice gpu physics driven effect you will be able to pick up a brick and use it as a part of the game as the cpu will now know exactly where the bricks are to update the game engine.

At the minute that doesn't really happen due to the fact that there is a large performance penalty getting the information back to the cpu.

The more performance the more bricks so to speak. This hasn't really been explored with the new consoles and is imo one of the more potentially interesting developments as it should enable new things not really seen before. The PS4 is exponentially more powerful with this stuff and there's doubts Xbox can even do it without flushing caches (ESRAM) which would introduce large performance penalties again.

Ah ok. I agree with that, I think the problem is that gameplay is quite a broad term and I think it's a fine line between gameplay and atmosphere/immersion which it could be argued fall into gameplay anyway.
I guess looking at the overall package then yes it make sense the more power can equate into a better experience when used properly.
That said, my favourite game last year was super mario 3d world that is on a frankly weak console but the gameplay was brilliant.
I love my PS4 and I cannot wait for the next few months :)

I can tell you it doesn't. Power is great, I have a quite expensive set up in my PC for high performance gaming, but the game I've most enjoyed playing over the past few months has been Sid Meier's Pirates!

What's your point? There's always been excellent games starting with pong, but without progression and pushing the envelope we'd all still be playing it.

2 months after launch? Lol, never buy a console 2 months after launch based on a handful of average games. (I'm including both in that.)

The op says he was getting "connection lost" errors. Weird, I've never had one. It's Live that's a mess at the minute and getting a complete re-write of the code.
nobody said get a console for games that are just out now  look at whats out now as exclusives wise an whats to come, its not rocket science, plus if no one chose one to play games out now there would be nobody making games in the future bit like whats happening with the wii u ,i take it you have not bought a launch console ? if so why did you buy one and which one did you get ?

I went with PS4 which is only playing BF4 as I am a BF whore.

My point was intended to back up an earlier assertion that cpu power, graphics/resolution, physics isn't everything.

I fully agree with you about pushing boundaries but I think game design ingenuity is more important these days than a few extra fps/polygons/etc.

I'm not sure what the indie scene is like on consoles, but the last few years have seen an explosion in great indie games while we get the same old dlc ridden crap from the big publishing houses.

Yeah gameplay is a weak argument when it comes to playing games....seriously LOL at that.
