HAF 932 case, where to put extra fan ?

I have a HAF932 pc case with all its standard big fans, I also have mesh filters on the two intake fan areas which has increased the temp on my cpu by about 5 degrees and on the North bridge with about 10 degrees.

everything is clean inside, i cleaned it all out.

I have two hard drives, one at the top of the hard drive rack and one at the bottom so that in theory it lets the front intake fan blow in air with not much obstuction.

I have two dvd drives above them in the area where you put dvd drives.

I have an msi x58 platinum motherboard with 6 GB corsair ram on it, I'm using onboard sound.

I also have an ATi?amd HD 6990 graphics card in the top pci-e graphics card slot.

I think thats about all I have apart from a 1000watt coolermaster psu which is in the very bottom of the case.

Problem I have noticed though is that since adding the two intake fan mesh filters to the side fan and the front fan is that my temps are up on the cpu by about 5 degrees and on the northbridge by about 10 degrees.

Can someone please give any advice apart from removing the mesh filters as to how I could get the temps down a bit on the psu and the north bridge ?

On idle the cpu is at about 28-30c and the northbridge is about 70c, before I added the mesh filters the cpu was about 25 and the northbridge was about 60c.

I have looked to see if i can fit another fan, but i cant see anywhere i could, does anyone have any ideas at all on this please ?

p.s
The cpu is an i7 920 clocked to approx 3800 to 4000 with turbo boost on, i have an ocz gladiator max cooler on the chip.

Any ideas would be very much appreciated please, thanks :)

The whole point of having front intake fans is to cool the hard drives.

yea i know that mate :), but they are still getting cooled the way they are, however, if i was to put both the hard drives together bang infront of the intake fan it would hamper the airflow getting into the rest of the pc, ya see what i mean now ?

I swapped the side fan for 4 120mm high performance fans and stuck another in the bottom
what a differance that made doubled the air flow

i am very interested in what your saying here mate becuase of my temps.

I have a fan that i could fit inside the case on the bottom where the holes are, but then that would be blowing hard cool air straight at the fan on the graphics card which is pumpping hot Air out of the card, so would that not make matters worse ??

also, instead of the one big giant side panel fan, you say you have fitted 4 smaller fans instead, what is the difference in temps ? is it only a 2 degrees or 10 degrees, trying to find out if any these things are really worth the bother, hope you understand what i mean mate.

look forward to hearing from ya soon.

p.s
can you give me a link to the 4 side fans you bought and the adaptor that allows 4 to plug into one socket ? thanks.

Is this with the DEMCflex you got this increase?? I've taken mine on and off and only get a degree or so on cpu and no change at all on my NB. You left the ones off the outtake I take it?

yes, left the outtake ones off, only place i have the demcifle filters is the front and side intake fans.

My cpu goes up about 5 degrees and my north bridge about 10 degrees, but i dunno if you have the same stuff as me inside, i have an intel i7 920 clocked to about 4Ghz when turbo kicks in and an ocz gladiator max cooler on that which is quite bulky, also i have the new AMD HD 6990 graphics card which does run hot for anyone, but if i take the filters off the north bridge drops to its normal 60c and the cpu drop to its normal of about 25c ( when idle).

:( No mate different stuff inside, so obv somethings making a difference there. But you would think air flow would be getting restricted like yours, am sat here taking them on and off now and do notice a slight difference. Trying to figure out if I've got anything different fan wise to you but mine are all stock facing like yours I assume. Bit of a bugger as I find them pretty handy but 10 degrees is a bit of a jump.

yea it is that, i'm sure its cause of the mesh filter on the side and the mega large and hot ati 6990 card too restricting flow, dunno however about putting an intake fan on the bottom facing up towards the graphics cards as the graphics card fan is trying to blow hot air out of the card, how'd you think that would go ?

Dont think it would get past the 6990 blower would it?, any air that fetched in would be thrown straight back out of the case wherever the 6990 exhausts and not make it up as far as the NB and CPU? Saying that I dont know your board layout. Dont think it would make things worse if you have a spare fan though to see.

thats what i dont know mate, cool air blowing in against hot air trying to come out of the graphics card ? I dunno, does anyone know ?

I know someone will say just try it and see but i hate going to the bother of doing these things and then its a waste of time, know what i mean ?

Anyways, I'm not sure if i have any spare fan sockets on the motherboard, its an msi x58 platinum board, so is there an adaptor thingy i buy to allow two fans to connect to the one socket ? if you have a link to the item that would be handy please ?

Thank you.

anyone else got any knowledge to comment on this subject please ? thanks.

Does the GPU vent heat inside the case? or is the fan sucking air in and blowing it out the back? (that's how they usually work...)

If so, then the cool air blasting at the fan will DEFINITELY be a benefit! :D

good shout mate, never thought about that :)

so question now is, does the AMD/ati HD 6990 blow or suck air in its fan ???

anyone know for sure ?

As it has the vent grill on the backplate I'd put my money on it sucking air in through the fan, blasting it over the heatsink and out the back...

I don't think I've ever seen a GPU with that sort of cover/fan that exhausts inside the case

The only ones that keep the air inside the case are the single slot ones that just have a fan and a heatsink...

>edit<
reach round the back and see if you can feel it blowing on your fingers :)

I asked this question in the GPU section and the answer was that it sucks from inside the case and blows out the back (though some hot air inevitably does escape inside the case). I can feel airflow from the vents with my finger.

Iam going to put a case fan down the very bottom of the case facing upwards blowing cool air in as there is holes in the case for it, just waiting on the grill to put on the fan arriving in the post as theres a lot of cables down that area as its next to the psu, so the grill on the fan will stop the cables touching the spinning fan, its just a cheap nexus 1000rpm quiet fan but if i see it makes a few degrees of difference then i will buy a much faster fan and use that instead. we'll see :)
