HAF932 build log and custom filters

if your thinking about watercooling then the HAF will do you perfectly there's loads of room inside and you can mount a triple rad at the top and a couple of double rads on the side not that you will even need that many rads but it's nice to know you could if you wanted to and thats without external rads:D

also if the antec was your first choice the HAF will save you a few quid while the sniper is about £4 cheaper but don't come with a side fan looking at the spec where as the HAF932 does (the HAF922 don't come with a side fan as well)

i thought i would also update you as to how affective the filers are unfortunately my camera has eaten the last pair of aa battery's i have  so could only take one pic :(

here's just behind the main front filter, before i started using the filters this bit was covered with dust where as now as you can see very little dust in fact until i viewed the pic on the pc before uploading i thought there was no dust at all
SS100621.jpg

and as you can see the side filters are covered in dust as is the rest of the filters

i will do a proper update as soon as i give the pc a good clean out with air duster, i may even spray the inside as it's the only thing that lets the case down IMO and as i already have the paint why the hell not :D

nice job, but not to rock the boat calling you an obsesive compulsive however, yall ever heard of compressed air? 2 quid every few months. im far too lazy for such a feat

the main reason for doing this is because when picking this case the main thing people on here and other forums was no filters and with case's becoming vacuums as well as cases these days (like my old antec 900) and the fact i'm fed up with fans failing due to dust (like the rear exhaust fan on my old 900) not only that but i just had to give people an alternative to tights :p:D

nice job...

I have a different case but i found womens tights to work REALLY well as filters
tights are great for womens legs but for as a filter.......... not for me really :) not only that but looking at the mesh and then at tights i would think tights would cut the airflow more than this mesh, not only that but when the filters are dusty all i need to do is use a clean paintbrush and brush it off or even use the hover

there is also another bonus with this mesh........... no ladders :D

anyway thanks to all for your imput, i'm glad i have inspired others to ditch the tights :p and hopefully other HAF owners have found this useful

there is more to come in the future as i plan to cut out a lot of the metal opening (thanks steveinspain, looks great btw :), love the black and green combo awesome work m8) and i also plan to spray the insides of the case, i'm thinking red but not 100% yet, the main thing i'm after is another red led fan like the front but as a back-up plan there are holes round the fan for led's but really want a clear fan with red led's

also if your still awake is it possable to get real red cold cathodes as most of them look more pink than red, obviously don't post links i'm just after the manufacturer, but as a back-up plan i may have to make some led strips up or something

anyway enough of all that for now, and please no more tights suggestions :p it's just not my thing :D

edit: don't worry about the cold cathodes, just ordered something that will hopefully do the job better :), will update when they arrive but could be a week or so as there coming from china

How many rolls of that stuff did you purchase?

of the medium i ordered 1 pack and it come in 2 x 560mm x 500mm (EDIT: i for some reason got 560 x 700mm) sheets on a cardboard tube and after 1 full case, 1 case side panel and all the different revisions and versions of filters i made still have about almost a sheet left for next time :D

if you do order some ask them to send it on a roll or something so it stays flat, tell them razer1978 sent you they'll know what you mean and what your using it for and they will look after you

just got an e-mail back from coolermaster asking about the replacement sidepanel if it come's with fan and window and it does :D  so come payday i'll be ordering one so i can try a couple of things with the old one like making a new window for the top and other stuff to be unveiled if they work :D

anyway still waiting for my new lighting to turn up :( so nothing more to add at this time but hopefully very soon will have something cool to show you guys :D

Cheers Razer! I was just asking aa on the site it seems it is 1x 560mm x 500mm sheet for £10.99? Is this correct or is it 2 sheets for that price?

well i got 2 , not sure why maybe they messed up or something :D but then when i ordered the 2 packs of the super fine stuff there was loads more than i was expecting as well but i have just measured what i have left and there's 560mm x 700mm left very  .com :D and just checked my account to check i did only order 1 pack and i did so don't know what happerend maybe i got lucky and it was a couple of pieces left over or something but rest assured you'll get enough to play with and easily enough for a whole case, let us know how you get on it will be nice to get someone else's view on this stuff

from the look of it the stacker 831 uses 120mm fans so the HAF will have more airflow and be quiter and i haven't had any problems with vibration with my HAF so it really boils down to looks, some hate the look of the HAF, personaly i love it and all my mates love the look of it as well, it looks mean and with the mods i have planed for it hopefully should look even meaner :D

anyway back to your question, if your looking for quite and good airflow there are 2 that keep coming up as possabiltys the HAF932 and the Antec 1200, maybe someone else could comment as to others but from what i have seen on forums and such these 2 are good a both cooling and noise, i looked at all the options about at the time and as i already had an antec 900 so wanted something different and the HAF just ticked all the boxes, not only that but in all the case's i have been through over the years this is the first coolermaster case i have owned and i have to say i'm well impressed with the build quality and design of the case also it's a water coolers dream with mounts for rads all over the place.

hope it helps but got to go footys on :D

Thanks for putting this together.

My brother-in-law has been looking at the HAF for a few weeks, and after much *umm-ing and ahh-ing* decided to look elsewhere due to the fear of dust/cat hair as he has his machine on the floor.

Showed him this thread and seeing how relatively cheap and easy it is to do, 10 mins later he's on the phone with his credit card.

We will be trying red mesh (plasti-kote metallic range) so if we don't **** it up too much we'll post some pics up

great :d he won't regret it the HAF is awesome case but dust was a factor in my decision as well then i found the mesh (tried the ultra fine first but was too ristrictive) and thought what the hell so went for it and i'm glad i did :)

i did think about going with red mesh so will be very interested to see how it turns out, if you need any help drop me a message on here and i'll do my best to help where i can :)

a little update for those interested i have my new lights for the case and will be sorting them out on monday when the kids go to there mums, i'll post pics and stuff when done:cool:

i can't really post a link as where i got it from you can buy everything from pots and pans to pc componunts and as such would break the rules, but if you do a google search for "Stainless Steel Woven Wire Fat Quarter- Medium Fine" you'll find it :D

little update about the lights..... still working on it at the mo....... well still thinking about the placement and how to get the best effect from them, but have been really busy reserching airbrushing and stuff right now along with a couple of other projects and stuff but will get it done soon....... i hope :D

Hi Razor,

good bit of reading and was going to try the front and side panel intakes using adhesive tape rather than glue but anyway my question was how did you come to £10.99 for the medium fine or ultra fine for that matter as i couldnt find/see that price listed on that auction site for 'Stainless Steel Woven Wire Fat Quarter- Medium Fine' mind you nothing came up for that i had to shorten it to 'Stainless Steel Woven Wire Medium Fine'

that is if this is the right shop on that web site:)

prices i found are £6.99 for A4 And £33 for 1m x 1.2m inc del.

is this correct ? or should i look again :D

kind Regards

HRhino"

just looked myself and looks like they have stopped selling it in that item now?? it's the right stuff and the right shop:confused: my guess is the "Fat Quarter" was made up of off cuts or something, the ultra fine stuff was sent in a padded envelope and there were some strange sized bits but the medium was sent out on a roll like the description says now

try dropping them an e-mail like "steve in spain" did above send them your requirements and i'm sure they will get back to you with a price m8 :D

Hi Razer,

did you manage to spray the mesh to a standard you are happy with? I'm going to get a few sheets but I'm not to keen on the shiny appearance of it through the case.

sorry for the late reply, it's been mental this week, yes i am happy with the painted mesh i used plasti kote super gloss black and it has turned out really good and very durable :) much better than the std finish the mesh comes in, just remember to hang the mesh so the part your spraying has air behind it

a bit confused are you still using the Ultra Fine Stainless Steel Woven Wire Mesh Fat Quarter - or did you change it for a medium, if so same place???:(
i started with the ultra fine but is was way too restrictive so switched to the medium fine and it worked like a charm :)

looks great! gives me ideas
many thanks, i would be interested in what you come up with

Very nice work, I'm thinking about getting a 922, only thing that concerned me was the lack of dust filters, so I might just pick some of this stuff up :D
many thanks again, yeah the haf's are great case's only let down by the lack of filters
