I just wanted to post and recommend this for anyone, however unlikely who maybe hasn't played it, it is a fantastic game.

Let me just say that I thought Half Life 2 was one of the most boring, unoriginal overhyped games I ever played, never liked it, didn't think too much of the original either tbh. I recently played episode 1 and it felt like much of the same, so with trepidation I went and played episode 2.

Now i'm glad I soldiered on through the mundane first few games as episode 2 is excellent, imaginative story, some inspired gaming scenarios, tougher than the others...basically in my eyes exactly how a game should be.

So, if like me you didn't like the first few half life games, go ahead and give this a shot, you may be surprised :D
 
I haven't played EP2 yet but have played all the earlier ones and enjoyed them.
Just a shame you can't buy EP2 seperately. Going to have to purchase the Orange box.
I read on these forums that Portal is outstanting too.
 
Try going to a large chain of toy shops, they have the seperate parts of the orange box for a fiver each.

I went for the Ep1 and 2 pack and have just started ep 1.
 
Good game but the tunnel sections near the start with insects etc got a bit boring I found (apart from the base defence section).

Sometimes I wonder if I ought to go back and play HL2 for a comparison with the more recent episodes.
 
Just finished EP2 . Brilliant but the end came a bit quick i thought i was about 3/4 thru.

Looking forward to Ep 3
 
I thought Ep1 was absolute rubbish full of zombie killing for hours on end, and so was a bit sceptic with Ep2.

And how well Ep2 surprised me, it was very nice and fresh, a change of scenery, better graphics and very well thought out combat scenarios. Some good story events and little secrets revealed too which helps to keep people enticed.

Bring on Ep3 (for a cheap price :p)
 
Thought Ep2 was very good but not brilliant. Agree with HT the early tunnel levels became tedious. Took me forever to take down all those damned striders on the last level - still emotionally and physically exhasted from the effort.
 
Played Ep2 through recently, awesome awesome game and managed to ramp the AA/AF right up for a great experience. Still one of the best looking games out :cool:

And the ending was TOUGH :o
 
I have not played half life 2 yet. Just the deathmatch. But it is on my list of games to buy off steam soon. My pc could not run it when it come out, and the xbox 1 version looked pants. So i have been waiting for when i next upgraded my pc.Now that i have i gotta buy it soon.

Once i finish cod 4 single player i will buy the whole half life 2 pack :)
 
I installed HL2 the other day as well.. I have finished EP1 but never bought EP2... Will see if i can grab orange box for a cheapo in a few months...
 
Agree with what others said. HL2 and EP1 were "ok" but EP2 I thought was really good :)
 
All three are good, and about the Ep2 being short...It's an episode...Not a full blown Stand alone game...So it sin't gona be 3+ hours is it :p

They're all good to be honest...Bet than half the carp out now to be honest.
