Half Life series.

Can finish this thread by saying I bought HL Anthology (Brand new) and HL 2 GOTY (Brand new).

Am quiet happy to find these games brand new. Thanks for the help everyone.

Never played Opposing Force until today, found a nice little easter egg.

When you find Gordon jumping into the teleport in Lambda Core.
If you noclip your way through the door you don't trigger Gordons run into the green glow. If you run ahead and get into the teleport yourself you are sent to the first wierd Xen level with the floating rocks. You see the back of Gordon standing on the first floating rock.

Only you don't land on a rock, you just fall to your death and get the message "Attempted to cause a paradox" :D

I finally found an easter egg! woohoo! :D

A gamer who has never played half life is like a christian who has never read the bible

more like a christian who's never heard of the bible. Most christians probably haven't read it cover to cover.

The original doesn't have un-playably bad graphics, some people still play Deus Ex!

Yes, but for many of us, the first computer game was an "X" being chased by a "." and years later, the rich ones had an "X" that went beep when it got caught, and the mega-rich ones had later progressed onto CGA!!!

For me, any game still blows me away.

Yes, I had that impression, but at the same time, when they made HL1, they broke barriers in many ways.
.

I only played it recently, and it just seamed like a basic run and gun, that got repetitive after 30 + mins am i missing something here?

Clearly you are.

You got to look at the facts.

When it came out, and be fair, its no spring chicken anymore, there was next to nothing that came even close to it in things like Variation, size, playability, visual and audio special effects and storyline... At the time, can you name anything else that did this without resorting to searching?

To be fair, the first 30 minutes are nothing special imo. It's only the middle levels that set it apart from other FPS's. I still maintain that levels 12, 13 and 14 (Surface Tension, "Forget about Freeman!" and Lamda Core) are better than anything in HL2 or Farcry. Shame about the levels after that though :(

Hmmmmm all this talk of Half Life 1 makes me think I should play it again.......some great moments in there! Like the boss you have to be completely silent against to kill it.....classic!
