So, im halfway through my first build and im having a few problems identifying the various connections on my mother board.

Im using the Gigabyte GA_P35_DQ6 with a NZXT ZERO case.

Has anyone on these forums used the same combination of board and case and if so would they happen to have a decent picture of the completed setup.

The main problems im having is trying to find out how all the fans hook up to the motherboard and also the exact number of connections i need to make with the case front panel and the mobo.

I'd love to be able to finish this build tonight as a bank holiday weekend on the beer got in the way of my build!

I wuold appreciate any help with the above problem.

Am i missing something in my post?

I doubt very much that anyone on here has that exact setup, mainly for the fact that its not a common choice case on OcUK and the motherboard is brand new.

Can you get pics of how it looks currently and maybe we can have a looksie.

Jaffa is right about photos being helpful.

Specifically what issues are you having with the fans? They can only go on one way so I wonder where the challenge lies.

Not sure what you mean though, any 3-pin fan connector on the mobo will work with case fans unless they come with a standard 4-pin molex.

Front panel USB connector goes to USB header and the same goes for firewire connector to firewire header. You will need to refer to your mobo manual for power/reset buttons & leds connections.

4-pin headers are backwards compatible with 3-pin fans as well. It will simply run in legacy mode without PWM speed control.

As my case and heat sink have 10 fans all together i am wondering do i connect them all to each other first and then to the motherboard or do i link them all and then connect them to the psu(Corsair HX 520W ATX2.2)

My fans have the 4pin connection.

10 fans!? That's probably a bit excessive and it'll end up sounding like an airplane taking off. However I don't know what you mean by "connect them all to each other." The fans will go to either the motherboard or the PSU. Since I doubt your motherboard will have headers for that many fans you'll have to plug at least some of them into the PSU.

Fans plugged into the motherboard will be speed controlled and will be quieter. Fans connected directly to the PSU will not be speed controlled and will thus run at full volume all the time.

A decent mobo should have headers for 3 case fans plus the CPU fan, so the rest of the 6 fans will need to be connected to the PSU. I think I know what you mean by connect them all to each other, you will need 6 3-pin to molex (although your fans have 4 pins the extra one is for PWM feature as suggested by Billiy and is not neccesarry) adapters which may or may not come with your fans in order to connect them all to the psu.

I've got the same MB but different case (Zalman 160XT which has it's own fan controller for the 4 case fans). Although none of it is working at the moment as I think the PSU is faulty - ordered another today just in case! ...if it isn't then it's an excuse to build another machine!

The Gigabyte P35 DQ6 has the following fan connectors;

1 x PSU Fan
2 x System
1 x CPU
1 x NorthBridge (you have a Heat Pipe on that anyway)

Sounds like your fans have connections like these:

In which case yes, plugging them all together then directly into the PSU is ok; however i'd suggest that you just plug 2-3 together, and then into the PSU, as the cables will be easier to hide away then.

ok so i have a few photos of where im at in regard to this build but how do i post them? #sorry if this is a stupid question but im not familiar with posting pics.

Go to imageshack then simply choose the location of your pics to upload, tick the resize button if you wish and just click "host it!". After the image is uploaded it will give you various links to your pic, cut the 1st link at the bottom and simply paste it on the forum post and the image should come up nicely.

best bet is to host them on something like imageshack;

they give you copy & pastable code for insering them into forums I believe :)
