What do you find wrong with this trailer exactly? Its been well received by even the hardcore fans from what ive seen.
Michael was kind of a supernatural and unstoppable presence in the first film, he was used sparingly to build the tension till the final act. Visiting him in a prison yard in the daylight in the opening act is very mystique breaking. Less Michael on screen would be a big plus for me.
Re-watching the trailer it looks like they've reset the whole thing so Halloween 2 onward never took place - in the opening part of the trailer the guy says he killed three innocent teenagers and was shot by his psychiatrist before being taken into custody "that night". Nothing mentioned about being blown up or any further deaths. They also explained away how he survived the gunshots (the doctors medical notes seems to show entry wounds nowhere near vital organs, like in the shoulders - which isn't exactly what happened in the original movie) and those other teenagers debunking the "myth" that Myers was Laurie Strode's brother.
That said - I liked the trailer and looking forward to seeing it.
It's setting the stage to show where he's been since the original movie, not everyone going to see this will be clued in on the fact this is a sequel to the original and ignores the other movies so this kind of setup pretty much has to happen. It may well play a large part in the story as well explaining why he chose this time to break out. Maybe they slip up and say something he wasn't supposed to know which makes him break out.
Wasn't a fan of the ending however with the panning shot to the knife almost hinting that the Grandaughter was suddenly going to become the next MM
