Halo: Combat Evolved and others coming to XBLA

Hmm that's a good list, but I still can't understand the point (apart from making buckets of cash) from re-releasing old games as opposed to new arcade games.

If I want Halo, I'll buy the disc cheaper.

Achievements as said, they add a lot to a game and give people a good reason to play them again.

Not for the "oh look at my score" factor, but purely because they add extra goals to a game besides just completing it. Can't fault achievements at all, cracking idea from Microsoft.

Bungie has been pestered for ages to rerelease Halo with online multiplayer, coop and achievements now. I REALLY hope this is it. Games released on the XBL always had modifications, achievements and touchups including online modes - I hope Halo is treated to the same courtesy. Bungie would be CRAZY to miss this opportunity.

I'd love a halo 1 online, never got to play it multiplayer properly and its single player didn't interest me.

The games seem bad value for money to me. Having said that if it was games that didn't work via BC then fair enough, but re-releasing games that already work via BC, can't see the point in (unless as people speculate that they are upscaled/online or enhanced in other ways).

It is the Videos I am interested in as we have been waiting for a UK/EU Video Marketplace for ages... Just praying we get a decent catalogue of films compared to the USA. Sadly the blurb just tells us Warner Bros have signed up and mentioned 3 films that are not even in the cinema yet!!

If we just got Video Marketplace in the Fall update that would be much more than enough for me (and some decent content with it, but that goes without saying).

Hmmm I'm currently selling Xbox Farenheit on the MM because I found it's quick time sequences a bit hard on the 360 controller. I wonder if they'll re-do bits of the game or sell the proper original?

I like the idea of them selling older titles though. Given that us UK'ers are being skanked on getting the video marketplace, these games could at least allow Elite users to use their hard disk space.

There is a major problem with this. PS games were a maximum size of 650mb and the PS3 as at least a 40GB hard drive compare this to the 360 where Xbox games were a a maximum of 8.5GB and not all 360's even have a hard drives and those that do are mostly 20GB with 13GB spare.

Be a better idea to improve compatability and sell XBOX games under some sort of budget label for £5.99 or something.

Yeah got to agree.

As a cheapskate gamer I tend to buy games at £15 to £25, play them until I'm sick of them then shift them on for £10 to £25. Very rarely does a game cost me more than £10 to £15, sometimes they cost me nothing at all. Thats for current gen games, paying £10 for a previous gen game that I can't sell and will probably have to delete as soon as I finish with it to free up space seems a bit steep.

Having said that I do like the concept and having missed out on a lot of xbox classics I might be tempted to have a punt at a couple.

It's not a problem at all, you'd rather this choice of software library didn't exist? If anything, it's going to spurn people into getting bigger HDDs. Depending on the quality of the titles, I'm definitely going to at least fork out for a 120GB hard drive.

And they DO sell Xbox games under a budget label by the way, it's called platinum titles and it's been doing the rounds for years and years and years.

Code compresses extremely well but it's uneffecient to decode it on the fly.

Yeah but only a tiny fraction of that data will be excutable code. Also decompressing on the fly can be more efficient in some circumstances, it just depends how much faster your processor+memory is compared to how fast you can read from a storage device.

Wouldnt they have said if they were including achievements? Mind you playing Halo 1 with achievements would be epic. If it was the PC version port it would be better IMO with the gametypes and maps :)

Good point.
